@Morello - Concerning hitboxes

Well, everyone knows that several hitboxes are mismatched to their skills. One major offender, Nidalee's spear (which should be fixed by 4.8 considering nidalee was mentioned to be on the radar) is pretty gamechanging, but several others are too, such as zenith blade, or dark binding, among other things.

At the moment we have 100+ champions, probably about 200-300 skills that have hitboxes (my estimate anyhow). With a team, why not run through all skills with hitboxes, and indicate the ones out of place. Better yet, perhaps you can get the community to help on it as well. Then, you can change the hitboxes to better match the particles or vice versa.

This should be a priority because game interaction revolves around the feedback that the particles and and objects give to the players. Skills that are mismatched to particles thus causes bad interaction, and can be a source of discomfort or frustration, especially to newer players, but even older players alike.

This could also be extended to champion hitboxes. Better representation of the game pieces and objects in the graphics where it counts ensures better player interaction. Something that hits you should "feel" like it should have hit. And while individual cases have been done for skills like mundo's cleavers or ezreal's essence flux, wouldn't it make more sense to sweep through it and have the problems resolved now instead of waiting for these problems to arise?

If you allocate maybe 5 people to test a champion, each person would have to test about 22 champions. If each champion took 2 hours, it is roughly 1 week of work (assuming a 40 hour work week). Not only that, it would show that riot is actively trying to improve player interaction in game, as opposed to the current image that you are taking a more passive role in this by waiting for problems to blow out.

EDIT: Someone mentioned that a list has been generated by the community. Would be helpful if we could get a red response.

Talking about bad hitboxes, the Reddit forums have been keeping track of them for a long time now. Some of the really bad ones off the top of my head are,

  • Amumu's bandage toss has the wonkiest animation tether I have ever seen.
  • Thresh's/Blitzcrank's grab is extremely forgiving in some cases
  • Nidalee's spear
  • Lux's ult
  • Kennen's Q (the animation goes way further than the actual ability).

Here's a link that lists a bunch of problems with hitboxes in the game. We've already done most of the finding problem for Riot, they just need to fix them (granted, that would take forever with all the coding).

I was actually just thinking about making a post like this. I dunno how feasible your suggestion is, but the concern and call for action on the huge issue of inconsistent hitboxes is important. Well done +1

I'm for this...

Amumu and Thresh need a good hard look...

Personally I think if they made landing nid spear harded... like the hit box was more thin... they champ would be fine..

give it the Corki missile treatment and let the skilled nids shine.
