Irelia season 4 item build advice.

Hey, I recently just bought Irelia, she looks like a really fun champion to play. I was curious about how I should build her though. I know how important attack speed is on her, but I feel like she needs to be tanky as well in order to do anything late game. But I also feel like maxing CDR on her would be op... (Spammable q and w for 1v1 situations) but because of her passive, she should have tenacity.

So, here's the build I have proposed. item 3078 Because it gives nice damage, while providing some hp and mana. item 3153 Lifesteal's always a good thing... plus the attack speed would help with her w item 3158 Now, this is where people think my build is wonkey. Hear me out and keep reading on. (Usually people build mercs on irelia because of tenacity...) item 3143 Provides even more sustain, helpful when dueling, plus the active with your e stacks i'm pretty sure... item 3172 This is where the tenacity comes from :) it also gives me more damage and attack speed, I've been able to 1v1 a tryndamere when I have this and my other items.

and finally, item 3065 With the 5% increased CDR from my masteries, I have 40% CDR (maxed) plus nice survivablity attack speed.

This build usually always works for me, but I'm a lower elo and I'm not great... but I was just wondering whether I'm doing something wrong. Thanks for the advice~

I also just realize that with my passive and defense mastery maxed, if there are 3 enemy champions around me I have 90% cc reduction.

I basically get a free olaf ult.

I main Irelia and her kit has changed slightly from season 3. In season 3, I could build a full tank on Relly and pull off triples with no problem what so ever. the season, however; she relies more heavily on being an AD burst bruiser and she's turned into a counter engage lane bully. I have a few builds I use with her.

My main build is fairly similar to yours, all in all.
item 3006 item 3153 item 3078 item 3172 item 3143 then I usually have the option to build item 3074 ,item 3065 , oritem 3068 , depending on who's looking powerful on the enemy team.

My next build is slow and sort of unconventional, relying much more on heavy sustain than actual damage.
item 3006 item 3153 item 3172 item 3074 item 3065 item 3072 This build isn't recommended when the other team has an epic carry, as the your chances of survival 1 v 1 against ranged CC drastically decrease. It is, however, extremely effective against a mostly melee team, or if your lane opponent is a heavy CC tank.

This last build is in sort of Beta for me, But I'd try it if I were you, just to see how you like a crit based Relly.
item 3006 item 3087 item 3031 item 3142 item 3046 then get something to keep you alive, item 3083 ,item 3068 ,item 3026 ,item 3143, and item 3075 are good choices. Keep in mid that you will need to play a very passive early game to be effective with this build. Do not forget the active on ghostblade.

I also just came up with a relatively tanky build that helps her overall gameplay.
item 3047 or item 3111item 3078 item 3071 item 3022 item 3139 item 3026 I just came up with that build, so it might not work xD.

She's a very powerful champion if played right. Last bit of advice, if you're playing draft/ranked, don't pick Relly if you haven't seen whom you're topping against. She's easily countered by champs whom have extremely early bursts.Riven ,Darius, Jax,Yorick, and Renekton are particular problems.

She can counter some conventionally bad top lane match ups, as well. DrMundo ,Nasus ,Aatrox ,and Teemo all have an issue with her if you can itemize correctly and conserve your mana. Keep in mind that your stun lasts about as long as Teemo's blind.

A few quick foot notes, dont under estimate your W. You should almost always max it first and you should make good note of where your opponent is in relation to their minions. It's easy to engage inside a minion wave because you can ult through the enemy, hitting minions and gaining health through the fight. WQER is the ability sequence I would suggest.

Going by IreliaCarriesU (the high diamond, briefly challenger Irelia main), he suggests rushing a item 3110 against anything AD, and the item 3024 in particular is strong against a Renekton lane early, then build the item 3078 and a item 3102 , then only as a 4th or 5th item get the item 3153 along with a item 3026 . Against an AP lane, he said he rushes the item 3078 . While the item 3065 fits so nicely with her, being able to completely ignore the first CC headed your way even beyond her passive after you dive the carry gives you a lot more time to destroy them and have your team engage behind you while you are tanky enough to survive the burst. Her sustain from her W is already enough for a good while so long as you've got some good tank stats.

Also he runs her 21/9/0 with AD reds and MS/LS/Armor/Health regen quints and prefers to do 2-3 dorans items to start if I remember correctly, preferring blades over shields (especially post-nerf)

Irelia is interesting as very few items are bad on her. Generally, I prefer to go a item 3111 item 3078 item 3153 item 3091 item 3083 item 3026 build path, just because it makes her autoattacks not only really strong, but very difficult to build against. Her base damage is physical, wits end is magical, her w is true, and botrk has % health, pretty much countering everything you can throw at her in terms of tankiness. Triforce is pretty much a staple on her, and warmogs and guardian angel for that bit of suvivability. But thats just a guide i made for myself, I find myself often building a lot of different items depending on the situation.

I may eventually try out an AP irelia build just for fun, with item 3115 and item 3100. Im not sure how good it would be without the percent damage from botrk or the myriad of stats gained from triforce, but thats what experimentation is for.

Also, when feral flare comes out, I'm probably gonna be playing a LOT of irelia jungle.
