Any Word on a Followup Galio Rework? @ricklessabandon

I realize that the buffs a few patches ago were great and all, but is there any more to come? He still has some core issues that could use a look over. Galio was one of my first champions, and I'd love to see him get some more Rito lovin'. Here are just some things I'd like to see/question.

  • The Passive (Runic Skin): I remember reading somewhere that you (and other Rioters) were looking into reworking his passive into the abilities themselves. Any word on that? Because I think its a swell idea.

  • The Q (Resolute Smite): I wish this thing had a landing ring (I don't know what to call it: refer to Nami's Q and its landing ring). Maybe up the projectile speed in exchange for an AoE ring? It has the same issue of the old caster minion's magic bolts in that no one really knows which direction its going or where its going land/hit.

  • The W (Bulwark): As much as I love tower diving and being healed from it, this ability is a bit broken. The bonus MR plays well into the kit, but healing from taking damage is ironic and honestly not fun to play against and cheap to play as.

  • The E (Righteous Gust): I really like this one. A great wave clear mechanism that doubles as an escape/followup ability is really nice. Any plans on reworking this gem?

  • The Ultimate (Idol of Durand): This ability. I don't really know how I feel about it. I think it's okay in game at times, and other times I feel as though it's worthless (no dmg, gotta get really close). A fellow summoner proposed that if Galio died during Idol of Durand, he would deal increased damage; unlikely Galio would die with Bulwark on, but it wasn't a bad idea. However, I'd like to know if any Rioters had their two-cents about Galio's ultimate or any future reworks of it.

That's all I wanted to ask about. Any other Summoners have questions about Galio?

I love Galio, but he does need a few tweaks. Hopefully the aforementioned Passive rework is still in the minds of some Rioters.

The W is also castable on allies. Maybe they should remove the self cast and it'll work.

The only problem I ever had was his mana costs. Gotta go oom after 2 Qs.

The ult is fun though... they never expect a 5 man taunt.

But if they do that, a jungler can tank a turret/take damage from Galio's opposing mid laner and heal for free without doing much of anything. I think the ability needs to be reworked in general. the shield + heal is just bad mechanics.

True those mana costs are ungodly. It feels like the kit forces you to rush Athene's every game.

Perhaps, but it is pretty fun. Maybe there is a way to bring the idea back, or is it a lost cause?

If only we knew.

Is bulwark actually that bad though? It is one of the only "shields" in the game that isn't actually a shield, but instead raises defense stats. Taking less damage and healing some of it back is almost the same idea as nullifying the damage entirely with a temporary shield. Brief pokes do result in a net gain of health, but the heal decay is pretty strong and you don't last under concentrated fire unusually well (you ARE a tank, but compared to other tanks).

It is a unique ability and I feel changing it too much could be bad. Smite and gust are pretty generic, but bulwark and idol are what make Galio, Galio.

The ability is nice, but taking huge amounts of reduced damage and healing from it is not a healthy mechanic.

I think it comes down to what Galio's direction is. Should he stay this tanky mage-support or should he go down the road of a full anti-mage mage? I like trhe idea of a true support Galio, but he'll need his Bulwark changed up because of its toxicity.
