Vision Itemization and General Discussion

I think that the current vision items available for purchase in-game are extremely healthy and support coordination and vision control. I also think that the 3 ward limit on the item 2044 and 1 ward limit on the item 2043 force proper management of vision, which offers counter-play and overall healthy playability.

That being said, I think that discussing possible improvements to the system and different strategies with the warding system could possibly help to improve vision usage. Assigning specific trinkets to certain classes in order to improve team-wide synergy might be a good start!

Some other points that might be interesting to address are:

  • The possible relevance of a Vision Ward version of the item 2045.

  • The possibility of raising the ward cap for people who purchase the item 2049 or item 2045.

  • A possible new Trinket item or idea.

Remember, this thread is for discussing ideas which you might find interesting. Don't be afraid to post your own crazy ideas!

I'd like the blue trinket and Clairvoyance to receive some attention. For the blue trinket, the range isn't all that good, the duration is very short (1 second) and the CD is quite high (2 minutes). Clairvoyance isn't bad but it just isn't worth the summoner spell slot.

I know it is a far fetched idea, but I would like to see them merged. Make the blue trinket have global range, with CDs of 60s, but revealed durations of 1.2/2.5/3.5 seconds with the upgraded trinket not revealing the use of the trinket (no eye visible to the enemy above the revealed location). A blue eye could appear above the champion using it, but not revealing them (they would have to be within the enemies vision to see the eye). Clairvoyance could continue to exist on other maps and be disabled on Rift.

IMO, the main problem with the current ward system is that people are unable to buy wards if their inventory is full of items/ sub items.

perhaps item 3342 {{summoner:2}} could grant ( perhaps passively), holder-only detection of some kind?

OR, they run off of a charge based system, ala akali ult. Player stores up a charge, uses it to reveal vision, much as now( to see if there is someone in that bush, or to see if the enemy team is at red, etc). charges should generate at a much, much higher rate then the cooldown of the current summoner/ trinket

Sightstone doesn't need to grant more vision then it already does. I think the amount of vision teams have right now is good.

Though I think Riot should explore some different vision options for trinkets. Right now item 3340 and item 3341 are the only viable trinkets. Scrying Orb doesn't do enough to compete with them and rather then buff numbers I would like to see it changed.

My idea would be a trinket that lets you send out an orb of light that lasts 15 seconds grants vision and you can move around like you would Tibbers or a clone. That way you can scout out paths you are going to take or take two different routes to cover more of the map.

The other idea would be a trinket that when active blacks out the minimap for the enemy team for 5 seconds. It would not deny actually vision from the team(like Nocturne 's ult) but they would not be able to use the minimap to ascertain enemy and ally locations quickly. I think it would be a unique way to deny "vision" from an enemy team.
