@ Soraka Rework

So, just to state where I'm coming from, I'm a Platinum support main with a lot of games logged on Soraka (5th most played) and she has always been one of my favorites.

Obviously time will tell if the changes were good, bad, or just sort of re-aligning her with no real change in power etc.

Buuut...

A number of things bother me:

-Her E was essentially gutted. Without building mana, it's overall effectiveness went down and is no longer free.

-Also, Starcall was an already active part of what separated good Soraka's from bad Sorakas (aside timing W and E). And it got more expensive but less powerful just to carry some of Astral Blessing's weight.

-And the last major thing I dislike is how her old passive was removed just to add a passive that can potentially un-nerf her heals and mana restoration powers... kinda cheap...

One solution I think would be pretty fair would be to add an MR buff/MR shred to Infuse. Something like +10/12/14/16/18 MR to Ally and -8/9/10/11/12 MR to enemy on cast. You could throw in one of your .02% AP scaling here too if you felt the need.

This would justify the heavy hit to Infuse already instated, as well as keep with her MR shred gimmick and her ability to protect allies.

Another solution would be to change her Wish to add maximum HP instead of heal, so that it circumvents grievous wounds, and add a 15/20/25 MR buff for x seconds to all allies on the map.

I just feel like the slated Soraka changes, whether she is UP or "meh, playable" leave her somehow less engaging than before since her E will no longer be "cast on cool down" and she won't be healing much unless engaged in a battle or her ally is below 50%... And proper Soraka play already utilized her Q to the max if you were a true Soraka player so that stays the same... Overall she's less active and lost her nice MR passive that let her bully other supports.

Time will tell, but I think the Star Child deserves a bit more love and a more engaging kit than what's slated.

I can see where you are coming from. That is a pretty integral part of her harass, and it will be interesting to see what happens to her.

I also main support, and I was planning to test all of the new changes very soon. Hopefully she does not get bullied too hard because of the lack in harass from the q e combo.

I haven't taken into account her new build path either, but I can guess that maybe they were afraid she would shred too much mr on top of building a lot of ap at a much faster rate in the lane because of the balance changes. I guess time will only tell.

I will post more once I have tried her out. Interesting post though.

Im ok with the changes to her kit overall, I especially like the new passive... the only thing I don't care for is her E. It seems to make her harder to itemize for. You build mana to provide more and deal more damage, but then it requires you to now build additional mana regen to stay in the fight, while being expected to build support items along with AP since the support utilities now scale more off of AP. We've got one ability that scales mana and all the other scale AP.

I think Cameryn Kyre summed it up well in stating that the changes are going to make her a less active and less engaging champion to play, which is a bummer.

As someone who has carried my fair share of Soraka games in PBE, I personally say that I love the new Soraka. She's essentially the support version of a hyper-carry due to how much she can do late game.

Starcall makes Archangel's staff easy to stack, and an AA staff and a Frozen heart aren't out of her price range due to how easily she racks up assists, even across the map. With those two items and lucidity boots alone, she can easily be the sole mana source for your team, and keep man champions easily stocked on mana even with a level 1 infuse. and with max-level starcall and astral blessing, her ability to keep focused targets alive is huge. I have even used Soraka, missing an item to SOLO a full build sivir and come out of it with >50% hp late game. Seriously, don't underestimate how strong she can be late game.

Also, some direct responses to some things you said:

  • Her abilities were adjusted for the purpose of accomodating her new passive, not vice versa.

  • I disagree that her infuse ability was "gutted" it merely is now more reliant on scaling with items, and less with levls now. So it's PERFECTLY acceptable to level starcall over infuse and rely on a tear of the goddess to keep infuse relavent
