Tanks without scaling magic resistance...

Something that confuses me since I began really learning each and every champion are the tanks that don't have scaling magic resist. Shen, Maokai, formerly Galio, and then the three "ranged" tanks Vladimir, Urgot, and Thresh (for reasons i don't understand he does not show up when you check the tank filter box on the champions page of the site).

I do know that Shen, Maokai, and Galio were designed during a different time in the game and that is part of the reason they don't have scaling mr. I would have thought by now though they would have been given it... It is hard to call them true tanks without it in my mind.

edit: for obvious reasons ranged tanks do not have scaling mr because they are ranged

Some champions with highly defensive kits don't get scaling Magic Resistance because they would scale too hard into late-game.
Shen and Maokai are brutal at level 18, practically unkillable if not focused by a high-damage Carry.
Galio on the other hand probably does not get scaling Magic Resistance because of his passive, but maybe that will change with the teased Galio Rework.
(I heard the Rioter in charge wanted to rework his passive. His abilities would then scale with Magic Resistance directly instead.)

I believe that, when using the "tank" option on the sight, it only shows champions with a "primary" role of tank, Thresh (if I recall correctly) has Tank as his secondary role.

Shen is old. MR scalings wouldn't break him, but Riot hates MR and continuously makes mages who can deal consistent magic damage so that Banshee's isn't as effective.

Shen w spam makes very resist to magic dmg burst to begin with, which is why I assume riot decided to not give it to him.

After Kayle and Nidalee lost their MR/lvl I am pretty sure **zero ** ranged champions get any mr/lvl, it's just the way of things. And Vladimir nor Urgot are really "tanks" despite the tags they have.

Meanwhile Singed because he gets so much hp natural and insane amount of tank stats during his ult, so that he is more vulnerable while it is on CD.

Maokai passive and ultimate both counter mages in natural and make him difficult for them to deal with, so he doesn't have mr/lvl since it would cause him to be even more overbearing towards mages.
