[Balance] possible balance ideas for Renekton

As it has been said, Renekton has an overwhelming lane phase that often times snowballs him into mid game. However he doesn't have a very strong late game. I feel it is best to reduce his lane phase a bit and reward players for better decision and play making late game. There are 3 ways I think this can be achieved.

After facing Renekton many many times and playing him myself many times I find that trading with a Renekton is meaningless because unless you constantly waste your skills on him and ignore farm he can heal much of his health back after a few Cull the Meek. He also is capable of easily clearing minion waves even before he gets attack damage which makes pushing to his tower in an effort to reduce his farm meaningless.

This first particular solution and by far least difficult to implement is reducing Cull the Meek's minion damage which in effect will reduce its heal off of minions as well. This will reduce his ability to effortlessly clear minion waves resulting in more opportunities for opponents to harass him and try to deny him farm.

A second option to look at altering his lane phase is to have his empowered abilities scale as he lvls his ultimate rather than as he lvls each individual skill. This will reduces some of his overpowering early damage in lane while opening opportunities for additional power moving into the late game. As it stands Ruthless predator barely scales as it is leveled up because the way it works it pretty much doesn't have to. by making his enraged abilities more powerfull as he levels his ult you can reduce the incredible 225% total attack damage boost early and make it stronger late.

The third potential option is to only allow the use of slice and dice second dash if you go through an enemy champion instead of just any enemy, or if you have 50 rage. To balance this out the armor reduction I feel should be applied on every dash and have the enraged bonus be he can use the second dash without needing to go through a champion first. if he is enraged and does go through an enemy champion the second dash wouldn't consume the rage so he could use it for another ability. this change would alter Renektons ability to simply all in on his opponents from a ways away just because enemy minions are there to trigger his second dash. it makes using slice and dice more about timing and skill than simply being an easy gap closer.

these are some possible ideas to think about. Renekton needs to get some attention soon instead of simply waiting for the bigger changes to come further down the line.

As a Renekton Main and a PBE tester, I would love to throw my 2 cents in.

First off, Renekton is currently undergoing a light rework to address his very difficult laning ability. This consists of reucing his Q and W's damage capacity (decreasing base damamge a lot, switching to total AD from bonus), switching his Q's healing to scaling (halved, moving to what it is now at rank 5) instead of base, and moving his Rage bonus of E to a small slow instead of an armor shred. Hopefully this is good news for you, and I will be the first to admit, Renekton needs to be brought back into line.

As for counter-arguments against your proposed changes, I just wanted to point out a few thing s about his current kit and the above changes.

Q healing: his Q has a healing cap off of minion (which is increased with rage bonus), preventing him from healing much when it is used an non-champion units. His inc Q nerf will also decrease his early game (This is where the healing is the strongest) sustain from going out of control unless Renekton's opponent leaves himself open while he has rage.

Scaling rage bonuses: It's an interesting idea, but his rage bonus is tied with his resource and really is not tie in with his ult in any form besides the fact his ult produces his resource. His rage bonus is very intuitive right now simply because these bonuses are multipliers to his normal abilities, not separate abilities. Scaling with his ult and not his basic abilities will make it so, for example, his RageQ won't be maxed until level 16, while his Q can be maxed since level 7, creating a significant disparity between the normal and rage effects and a significant loss of (the illusion of) improvement as the levels go by.

2nd dash on champion hit: I will have to very much disagree with this. Renekton is a fighter, and fighters depend on gap closers to function properly. I agree that the 'in and out' mechanic that is seen in laning cane be frustrating to work against, but denying the 2nd dash until the distance can be closed anyway will cause his capacity to be kited much more than I feel you realize. The simple fact is his potential for a gap closer is only increased when the easily recognizable condition of another unit being nearby is met. He cannot actively give himself that condition (like Lee Sin->ward jump) other than moving closer to an obvious 'stepping stone'. When you compare his possible range for gap closing to another fighter like Lee Sin, Xin Zhao or Riven, he actually has mobility closer to the lower end of the pool.

Apologies for redundancy if you were already aware of the PBE changes, and I realize that may be a ways down the road, but I just wanted to throw my opinion out there.
