So, i have a friend who is an avid swain main. He's in gold. It really pisses me off. Because although he is pretty damn good at swain, he doesnt know how to do jungle, adc, and support very well. The thing that really grinds my gears is that he gets Top/Mid(swains lanes) even when he is last pick. Imo, i dont think its healthy to only know how to top/mid one champ. Am i wrong?
Most champions can fill 2 or more roles and can be built relatively flexible according to a teams needs, if you're good enough with a champion to deal with counterlanes and carry yourself to gold with that champion. You've earned it.
Even though Swain is broken when played right, especially in the current meta.
The problem with only knowing a few champs / positions is that if you don't get what you want you're at a big disadvantage, but the upside is that you end up significantly better when you do get what you want. In terms of a single match it's irrelevant how well you can play any champ or position other than the one you ended up with but in the long run you will have a harder time climbing due to the conflicts with your setup that occur.
On the other hand, it's far, far easier to get good with a single champion than it is with multiple ones, and there are plenty of people who are flexible with their roles, but hey, there is a bit of truth in the whole 'matchmaking decides the games' QQ some people have.
