Not too popular but viable Mid Lane Champs
I recently started playing mid, but don't want to fall into meta/fotm. Help me out?

The current meta champs that I see right now are:
Kassadin
, Gragas
, Leblanc
, Ziggs
, Nidalee
, Lulu
, Zed
, and Yasuo
.
The meta is not something that you necessarily have to break. All of those champs are picked for some reason (Gragas
for example, mad damage, mad sustain, mad burst, mad displacement). I think finding the correct champ depends on your play style and countering the opponent. www.championselect.net is what I use when counter picking someone. If we are just talking about normal games and trying new people out I would recommend picking up Lissandra
, Akali
, Ahri
, Orianna
, and Swain
. Personally I think all the champs I mentioned at the top of this post are really strong and I don't think it would be a bad idea to learn all of them as well as the unconventional picks if you want that. Anyway, have a good day and good luck!

Probably one of the strongest level 2's in the game. Damage is underestimated always as well as her ability to survive with RW, also nearly ungankgable because of her haste shield E, also provides quick and easy roaming.
Some underplayed mid-lane champs that weren't already mentioned:

A few of these (like Panth and Eve) are somewhat unconventional and require some unconventional thinking but they can work trust me. :)
I main mid and my top 5 would be
(for amazing 1v1 damage)
(because he is broken beyond belief)
(because he is amazing)
( awesome burst and poke)
( amazing burst and poke)
I'm a big fan of Jinx
in mid lane. About half the times I select her, I get flack and negativity because people think she is no good in the middle lane. I disagree though, her range is strong and can easily trap an enemy mid/jungle within tower range for an easy kill/burst down. You also have the benefit of a Jinx who is the only one getting EXP in her lane which means she'll be overall stronger than she would be in a duo lane like bottom.

I love her, her pre-6 laning though can be quite tough.
I main mid, and lately I have seen an overwhelmingly large number of Assasins, mainly
. I've found that
is an excellent choice against most assasins.
I like to use
in mid, but you should try any mid champs you can when they're free.
