Why isn't Lissandra played?

Lissandra She's bursty, tons of cc, not too bad with mana, and even has decent mobility (more than other mid laners). So why isn't she played?

Ccause most people don't like squishy initiators that do not have massive burst. A shortranged utillityfocused mage is just harder to play and less forgiving than a long ranged spam-mage like ziggs, so most people don't like her/ suck with her.

I personally love her, huge potential if played right, and very potent toplane.

There are a few reasons:

---She has so much cc in her kit, the remaining power 'budget' doesn't allow for a lot of damage comparatively to other AP's. It doesn't make her weak, just less popular, as players naturally gravitate towards nukes.

---Her Q's mechanic of fracturing on minions to get a viable range naturally pushes her lane and makes it a bit more difficult to last hit and easier for her to be ganked.

---Until one learns to control her passive well her mana management can be difficult, which can be a turn off for a lot of players starting out on her.

---Her one skin isn't amazing. Not gonna lie, that's a noticeable factor on her popularity.

---Her real power is shown in a teamfight when her team can be relied upon to follow up on her massive disruption capacity. Solo Q =/= teamwork in many regards. Just the nature of solo q.

tl;dr She's a great champ (one of my favorite APC's), but she is simply not as fun to play as other mids.

P.S. If you want to really test your boundaries with her, try doing Lissandra jungle. It's insane, 1/2 in a bad way 1/2 in a good way.

Generally speaking, the reason why certain champions aren't played isn't necessarily because they are good or bad. It's because there's a large number of champions that people simply don't play on this game due to the fact that there ARE so many champions in this game, and no amount of adjustment will change this fact.

This is why all of a sudden you see people in top ranked games pull a champion out of nowhere and stomp with them, because they already had the amazing things in their kit, it's just no one ever bothered to actually take a look at them and play them in serious play conditions.

But yeah, Arma has a good point on the above post, just figured I'd add to it.

If I recall correctly (I think) Lissandra sees more play top than mid as she's a fairly decent counter to some picks for top.

Lissandra is a great champ with her own niche. Lissandra can bring a strong initiation ability to a team. She is not played much in 5s because this requirement is often filled by other roles/positions. Generally from the jungle or top lane. Lissandra can be a great pickup in solo q when you notice your team lacks initiation. She can fill the gap.

Lissandra has serious downsides in exchange for her cc and control. She does low damage and has low range. This makes her naturally vulnerable to current meta picks like Ziggs or Nidalee.

Lissandra is actually a quite popular and strong champion in 3v3. Here her gap closer and cc can make her a real terror.

I've been wanting to try Liss on SR for awhile. She is amazing in 3v3. Like insane.
