The Supports Role

It seems to me, from what all that I have read, that riot wants to reinforce the meta in Season 4 by keeping all the support champions in the bottom lane. As someone who likes to zilean mid or leona top occasionally this is kind of concerning. Supports seem to be bracing for across the board nerfs and I want to know what the rest of the community thinks about this.....That is not GD or some of the other forums. I put this in gameplay and strategy because i think it fits the best myself. Help me out a little I am new to beta.

Why do you think they are trying to keep "support" champions bot lane? What changes point to that?

I don't know if it helps your concern but Riot has stated clearly on multiple occasions that they don't want to reinforce the meta. For the most part I think they do well to live by that, however you can't see that by watching championship games.

I don't think the changes to Support and Jungle are a reinforcement of the meta as much as a reaction to it. Personally I'm more concerned with how the meta is reinforced when you watch championship games. The idea of position and role is confusing, this is doubly so when you watch a championship game with players who are classified by their position when that position can and does change in such a dynamic environment.

I've always thought it was odd that it's Top, Mid, Jungle, ADC, Support. Three of those are designations by position, the other two are by role.

In my personal opinon, support can go any lane, just depends on the set up and team comp. The mid lane would prove to be more effective for the adc or apc to have a support due to the fact that you would want one of them to get feed asap. With this in mind, you can also pervide ganks with the jungle to either top or bot. The fact that you can even up bottom or do 3 to top with supports breaking off to help with the ganks. The only problem with this is will the other team also send 2 mid, and how much can one trust people to do 2v1's. This enlies that the current meta is the most effective sence solo queing is one of the most popular ways to play. Without the risk of others wanting this there will be no change.
