Is having Zhonya's hourglass cancel Anivia's ultimate upon activation intended and if so, why?

It seems that it's treated like a channeled ability. Any sort of CC will interrupt it, just like Katarina's ult can be interrupted.

Even if this is the case, I do think that Anivia could use a buff and a change to this Zhonya's interaction would be nice.

It's weird because even though most CC stops it, taunts and fears don't for some reason

I think its because these forms of CCs still allow movement. Do you know if getting slowed affects it at all? What about silences?

Silences cancel it. All CC that cancel channels cancel it except fear and taunt

silence would make sense then since it is an ongoing ability. fear and taunt, would make sense to only stop it from being toggled off

I think its because the attack continuously drains mana. Zhonya's is designed to prevent ALL status and health changes (mana included) so it cancels any ongoing mana drains (ie, her ult).

This is my guess/inference, though. Not completely sure.
