My response to the SR visual upgrade

First off it looks completely and totally awesome. I really do like that Riot continually updates it's content to keep up with the times. I am excited and can't wait to play on it.

But....

There is some disappointment in the back of my head. I would have preferred a "rework" instead of just a "visual upgrade." This stems from a couple of things. First is from the season 4 hype that I imagined in my head to what actually happened. All of the talk about jungle changes made me expect new paths and mobs. Instead riot hired a gardener and awkwardly added a new mob in the jungle which left me feeling less than impressed with the changes. Second, comes from my disappointment with the 2 v 2 map. I expected something along the lines of a treeline map. New path setup and some unique objectives. Instead we got the elusive "magma chamber" with looks like the proving grounds with a skin. (The aram map looks like the proving grounds with a skin too). So in my eyes the season 4 content has been severely lacking in comparison with previous seasons. Also champion production has slowed, however I have really liked the new champ concepts lately. And these temporary game modes, (all-for-one, hexakill) feel extremely half baked and unoriginal.

So while I am excited to see the SR upgrade, in my gut I'm still holding out for something that is actually "new."

(To be clear, I am not intending to "flame" at Riot, that was not my goal. I love this game and I just wanted to let them know some of my thoughts and be a part of it.) =D

I'm not sure if I'm disappointed, since I think the jungle paths are generally pretty good right now. I will, however, agree with you that when I heard, "New jungling paths," I imagined a reworked jungle, not just an added camp.

Here are my thoughts on your thoughts.

Had Riot 'reworked' Summoner's Rift, it would have effectively became an entirely new gamemode. SR does need the overhaul that the Twisted Treeline did, so it is unfair to compare the two. Also, if you have read the Dev Blogs, the jungle monsters will have improved AI. In addition, Baron and Dragon will have entirely new forms of attack. Baron and Dragon will become true "bosses" rather than a couple of high health targets. We have received new items throughout S4 (and still continue to), as well as updates and reworks of older ones. We have received 3 champions and 3 champion visual updates (which takes around the same amount of time to make a champion) if I am correct. I feel like Season 4 is the Era of Cosmetics. Eveythign needs to be brought up to date within a small amount of time, but it needs to be quality work. Just give S4 and Riot some credit. The quality content we are getting far exceeds broken and unappealing content from the older days.
