Blue Buff

Hello everyone

I would like to start a discussion about blue buff and mana.

Fist, i think that the blue buff needs to go (replaced), reason bring the fact that it brings a lot of frustration to the game, one example of this is champions with healing effects. Imagine that you are playing on mid lane versus a champion with a healing effect, and his jungler gives him blue, while ur jungler takes ur bluebuff. This leads to a situation where your enemy has almost endless mana pool, and with an healing skill (swain, nidalee, kayle...) their health is really hard to take down, pretty much impossible in this case since your mana will end fast (no blue buff fot you) so in this case, you will lose you lane, not becasue u were overplayed, not because their jungler caught u in a bad position, but simply becasue of a buff. There is nothing you can do, any damage you give, he will heal it in a matter of seconds, meaning that if u cant burst him from 100 to 0, you will never be able to kill your enemy, and u also cant forget, you enemy has infinite mana, but you dont.

The frustration brought by the jungler giving/not giving blue to the mid laner is responsible for a lot of negative situations that happen in a match, i am not saying that when i play jungler i refuse to give my mid laner the blue buff, in fact i main the jungle role and i always give my mid laner the blue buff, so it's not like i have any problems with that, but i see so many situations like this happen, that i just felt this was a big problem that needed to be solved.

Some can say that there are lots of mid champions that rely on blue buff to do their job, but if that is true then there is a problem with the design of that specific champion, and he needs to be changed accoringly. Others might say that all mid champions need blue buff to be able to work, if that is true, then the mana items need to be changed, in order to solve this problems. My personal opinion on this matter is that both situations are true, some champions should have more ways to recover mana on their kits, but mostly, the mana in the items need to be worked, because currently the item choices around mana are really poor and not very interesting.

In terms of mana items, theres one for ad champions and one for ap champions, the two tear versions, and another one for ap with some magic resist. I think the choices are really poor and dont offer a lot of variety, specially because the ad version of tear (manamune) takes so long to charge and then it's useless on late game, and the ap version (archangel staff) always needs to be paired with rod of ages.

Mana is supposed to be used as a gate to a champions power, but unfortunately most champions have acess to infinite mana throw the blue buff, and this is bad, cause it removes one major way of gating power from a champion. By removing the blue buff another problem might arise, a problem that was clear in dota, which is even worse than having unlimited mana, which is, even though u are certain u can hit your enemy with ur skills, you will lose more mana than your enemy will in health, and you will run out of mana before you can kill him, even though you hit all your skills, and this is the worse problem that could happen. if you are certain you can hit your enemy with your skills, mana should never be a deteriment for you not to use ur skills, that is really frustrating.

So, what i suggest to solve this is, totally rework the blue buff to something that only the jungler can use, change some champions mana status/abilities, and change the items, so when we are building we have more and cooler options to chose from.

With a new buff junglers would have more income and even more xp, both of which were a serious problem in the previous seasons (not sure about the new season jungler xp/gold things, but from what i've seen they have improved).

So, what do u guys think? i can come up with some solutions to these problems, but first i wanna know you opinion about it, if it's a legitimate problem or not so i know that it's worth thinking about a solution. It would be really awesome if we could get feedback from some rioter though, because maybe they could have already discussed this situation internally and came up with something that i forgot.

Thanks for you time: Midnight Link

Well for one, if you're having problems with champs that heal alot grab a morellos. Giving only blue buff to jungler is really -no offense- stupid. It's reenforcing meta and league doesn't want to do that. No one really has an unlimited mana pool just really high mana regen. It has to come back it's not instant. Other then that you can win lane when someone has blue buff it's all about counter play which is clearly available.
