Which support champion is your favorite?

Hey guys, I've been played league of Legends for about a month now and I just recently tried playing support, and I loved it. Every game I was asked to play another game with someone so I could support them, and everyone would ask if I was a smurf account (which I'm Not). So I guess I'm pretty good at support, for my level at least, and I cant decide which support champion to buy. Who are your guys' favorite support champions, and could you please make a Pros and Cons list for the champion you listed :) Also, my friend just recently bought VarusVarus and i will be supporting him, so if a specific champion plays well with him please let me know :)

Lulu My personal favorite is Lulu! ^-^ She's fun because she has a lot to work with and can both poke and assist in initiating. Plus she's just so damn cute!

Pros: Good CC including a silence/disable/slow that can win engages hands down in an even 2v2 bot lane fight. She has a shield, a slow and a speed-up, which can all make her a great peeler. Her ultimate can save teammates or make a solid initiate even better. I like picking her with champs like Malphite, Shyvana and anyone else who dives into the action. Works with Varus' poke and helps peel for his lack of escape.

Cons: Very slow and squishy. She simply wilts against any kind of sustain since she has none to offer. Picking her against a heal is a no-no. While she has a lot going for her kit, she is a jack of all trades of sorts, but master of none. Most other supports can do any single job she can do much better than Lulu.

Sona I would also be remiss if I didn't recommend this lovely lady as well: Sona. I think she is a great support to get started on especially since she goes well with pretty much any ADC.

Pros: A reliable heal, a team-wide speed boost and some good poke with her passive and Q, she has a lot going for her, all on a relatively short cooldown. That's not even mentioning her ult, which can setup teams for a great teamfight or help with disengage.

Cons: Like Lulu, she's very squishy. She can also burn through mana very quickly, and can't do much without it. Beyond her ult, she doesn't offer a lot in CC, so look elsewhere if you need a support to peel for an ADC.

Sorry that turned out long >.<

I'd have to say Sona she's helped me out a LOT even when things got rough. She has a lot of damage, she can heal for tons and if someone thinks they're gonna get away you can speed your team mates right up or go on the chase if you think it's a sure kill without a risk. Her ult is amazing in team fights and out. I happen to think she's one of the best supports out there tbh. She's the first champ I've played when I came into this game. She's a really good game changer if you play your cards right.

Thresh Thresh is my all time favorite. He has a pull, a knockback, a lantern that grants a shield and can let allies fly to you, and an ulti that slows enemies almost to a stopping point. He's great for getting your adc some easy kills because the enemies will have to deal with your crowd control abilities.

Pros: Abilities are rewarding when landed. His E passive is great. Can be very tanky. Can save teammates with clutch plays. Good damage. Most play carefully when against a Thresh, which means you can zone the enemy from farm. Good initiator and can disengage team fights with ultimate .

Cons: His Q can be tough to land because it has a slight delay before it goes off. Requires quick thinking and fast reaction time. Long cooldown on abilities. Doesn't have an escape mechanism other than his pull which can be used to pull yourself to minions or jungle monsters.

On a side note, I honestly don't even play Thresh support (where he's supposed to go) anymore. I only go Thresh mid or when I'm stuck with support. He has amazing damage when he has his own farm and can get some early kills on his own. If you ever want to try it, I made a short guide for it. http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/s4-mid-thresh-nuff-said-362540

Leona

Leona, is probably the 2nd support in terms of stupid high amounts of CC, 1st being Tresh.

Thing with Leona tho is that you're an initiator/tank/brick wall.

Janna
I got to say Janna is just perfect for keeping your Adc safe with her ult and tornado her tornado can stop Leona e with your tornado and her slow and knock up is perfect for getting kills and her shield is awesome also comes with a ad buff ^.^ plus her ult is great for sustain.

Since my two favorites, Lulu and Leona, have been covered, I want to put in a plug for Alistar. He's not as good as others, but he has an air knock up/stun, a knock back/stun, and a heal. All in all, he's really fun to play as and good when your team has no tank, little cc, and/or little peel.

Nami She literally does everything well

Alistar is my favorite. His ability to deny the enemy cs by healing them as well as his headbutt pulverize combination make him a very potent force in lane. With the season four changes for supports, he's actually able to go tanky; which, coupled with his ult, makes him virtually indestructible during an initiation.

I also find he goes well with any carry and against any carry. I often only have trouble against high sustain lanes, but that's due to the mana hungry nature of Alistar in the early levels.

Taric I guess its up to me to bring in this boss support. Hes truly truly truly outrageous. Lol

Sona I would have to say Sona. While she doesn't have the cc that most other champs have, she makes up for it in other ways. First, her abilities auto target so you don't have to sit there and aim them or position yourself away from minions or things like that. She has great poke potential with her Q, a pretty decent heal with her W, and a speed boost that can do wonders with her E. Beyond that, she becomes terrifying late game with her ult and just her ability to help your team with those nasty team fights in the end. The best thing is that she is good from beginning to end.

Let's be honest, they're ain't no support, like a Pantheon support. Great from the very beginning. Oh, all the other lanes are called? Then fine, I'll just type "sigh", "whatever" into the chat log, then choose an overpowered, high dmg dealing champ, and say "kill lane" because I'm selfish and no one makes me support if I have anything to say about it. Then I'll start with a item 1055, dont bother buying a trinket or ward (who needs em when everyone's dead right?) and continue to sprint down into bot lane, no time to leash, we got adc's to kill. Then, I'll continue to steal your CS while totally ignoring your innocent plea's in teamchat. Because remember, "KILL LANE". Then, after some awkward minion killing trading, i'll wait for the adc to finally get impatience with my awesomeness, engage, get bursted down by the enemy bot lane while poking away at their health to ensure the early game double-kill, then typing "BEST SUPPORT NA" and reminding everyone that the kills we're definently not killsteals, rather kill secures , all while recalling back to grab another item 1055 (no wards still, who needs em, no vision OP) so I can repeat the process and ensure the surrender at 20, gg, bot lane fed.

Kill lane OP.

Coming from someone who doesn't play support very often and has tried almost all of the supports I have to put my vote in for Leona . With the S4 changes she is ridiculously strong! Start item 3301 upgrade it to item 3096 as soon as you have the cash to do so. Then sit back build super tanky and grab a item 3068 asap and just laugh as the enemy team tries to kill you and your adc as you cc the hell out of them and roll face. Like I always say though: what works for some may not work for you. Play-style and preference are large factors in deciding which champ to play and your success on said champ. Best advice, try a few different supports see which one you have the best success with and like the most. That above anything will determine your effectiveness in the role. Hope that helps, good luck!

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this, but I love playing Nautilus as a support when I'm stuck w it.

Pros: A great tank, too much cc to deal w for your puny enemies, and looks scary as hell ;D

Cons: Makes a much better jungle, burns through mana quickly, and requires a good sum of gold throughout the game, which as we know supports can lack in.

My favorite play as a naut support: target your victim to let adc know it's that time again, ult that sucker, as adc gets close enough pull him, let him waste flash or if its gone, use your E, and if it's not gg by then or even before, you got a prob on your hands

Thresh I like thresh as an support. He is an awesome support if you built the right items. Make sure to pick up wards. When you are skilled you can literally pull their team then box to do hell a damage + kills for your adc. =D Pretty epic support in my opinion

Janna is my absolute favorite support, even though she's not in the best strategic position due to the recent changes. I'm not sure off the top of my head how well she syncs with Varus , but a well-placed tornado can knock enemies off guard just long enough for him to charge his arrow. Her shield also buffs AD. Varus also has a good deal of CC, as does Janna .

(First time posting on the beta forums, and I have to say that I am loving these pictures.)
