Is Galio Worth Buying?

I am currently looking for a new tanky top champion right now, and Galio caught my eye. If the enemy team is mostly AP, i can tell he would be a great choice because of his passive. Not to mention his game changing ult. But then, why is he not played very much? Does he look better on paper than he actually does in the game? So basically, my question is should i buy Galio, and hes simply just not played enough for unknown reasons, or are there MUCH better tanky tops that are available. However, I do currently own Dr. Mundo , and Nasus .

hes better mid lane, if you want top tank get Renekton or Shen (personally I think shen is the better of the 2).

gallio is definitely worth the buy though. played against one once who could, with no problem whatsoever, solo our whole team. and he only had 4 kills. Im planning on buying him myself, and I feel like hes only not played much just because he looks and feels boring. don't go off of me though I have no idea, that's just my guess.

The fact that top is largely AD means his passive is underused there, as well as the fact he has more utility and burst than sustained damage. But the nail in the coffin (for me at least) is that he is melee range. It makes farming with him a nightmare, which in turn makes it difficult to hold your own. He's very versatile but challenging, so all in all quite fun and a great addition to a team but not a solo laner imho.

This is all on SR though, he's actually pretty decent in both Dominion and ARAM, especially with the ult.

YES He is worth buying. He Is viable top though you would build straight tank with item 3174 (always rush that on galio) You would mostly just sit back and farm with q and ult for jungler ganks to give the jungler the kill. You would be maxing w 2nd after q to take advantage of its MASSIVE sustain item 3065 with that. But galio s real strength is in the team fights with his ult and masisve tanking abilities. Though if you wat kills and such he is better mid with his passive, but he is a decent top you just need to learn him ;) Galio my main btw message me in game for any questions

Precisely that. Heavy AP teams are rare which results in Galio being rare.

Galio is fun, much better in mid where he is against an ap, just sit back and hit the caster minions with Q-E and build mr, I've done top against a riven and rushed a thornmail and ulted, just remember to buy both armor and mr so you can survive the full duration of your ult. messed that up before, totally misjudged how fed the blue teams sivir got.
