Jax and his stats

So out of curiosity I decided to hit the champions page online to see what Jax base stats are like compared to other fighters and I found something quite surprising. Most of Jax's base stats are quite a bit higher than other fighters, more health, more armor, more attack damage. I figured if his early base are high they probably scale poorly per lvl... or not. In fact Jax gets more health per lvl, attack speed per level, even attack damage per level than many of his fellow fighters.

Why is it Jax gets so many more stats compared to other fighters?

Its quite simple really. Just look into his lore. He was designed to be the most dominant force in LoL. They literally stop him from using a real weapon.

lore is lore, and balance is balance. If a champions stats were based on their lore you could play cho gath and 1v5 the enemy team

It is a self imposed rule to not use a real weapon, in spite of some other unknown restriction that they put on him, but then they removed it. He kept his own restriction of using a lamp post anyway. No other known champion has had a restriction.

Maybe it has to do with the low impact of his ult? Sure the 3rd hit thing does damage and the active gives him defense, but it is not a big power spike. Even with those base stats being high, Jax is majorly item dependent.

I actually disagree with you here. Jax when you look at this kit and capabilities is significantly stronger than most champions when itemless. Leap strike is able to combo together with empower making it incredibly devastating without even factoring in items. While you might think his ult is low impact I'm not sure you are looking at the numbers enough. It may not seem like much on first glance but you have to remember that the third attack does not fall off over time or reset if you switch to a new target. You are also overlooking the active part of his ult which is incredibly powerful and equivalent to a 2500 gold item at lvl 6 for a full 8 seconds.

he is also far less item dependent than you think since his abilities do both physical and magic damage.
