Vel'koz's W and Yasuo's Windwall

So, my question is this, why does Yasuo's windwall, stop Vel'koz's Void Rift? I mean, it's not a missle for one, and for two, it's opening a rift in the ground, which should actually be UNDERNEATH the windwall of Yasuo. So, why is it blocked? Then it shoots UP, not forward in an explosion. So can someone, preferably from @Riot, explain why this happens? It just doesn't make sense to me as to why it is blocked when it's not really a projectile/missile, and it is from underneath the windwall, so it should just bypass it. Can this be changed?

It blocks velkoz void fissure but not xeraths beam. makes sense.

Xerath's beam ( and Vel'koz's ult) are not blocked because they are not projectiles, they do not have movement. Malph Q and Koz W are blocked because they have direction and movement.

Yasuo needs his wind wall 100% this isn't the time to nerf him right after they nerfed him, first of all his ultimate has a smaller ranged and his flow bar takes way longer to fill along with some other stuff, his win wall allows him to go toe to toe with ranged, gives him some space to farm. This isn't the time for another change to Yasuo right after they made him weaker.

In the view of the game's systems it is a projectile, I believe. Its art just shows it as a ground effect, but it otherwise behaves like one. Similar to Diana's Q.

Edit: Actually does wind wall block Diana's Q? I don't know for sure.

It's not a wind wall, it's actually a physics breaker. I realized Riot is on crack when they made his "wall" be able to block ults as well.
