About Replays
The first paragraph is context for my discussion about replays. It's 100% relevant, I promise.
So, I made a really badass play with Akali last night. After getting smacked by a full Yasuo combo under my turret at level 9, I lived with 200ish health, and he was at around 70%-80% health. He kept trying to hit me with a tornado to finish me off, so I backed off away from my turret and he decided to follow me through it, chasing me into my blue side jungle. Right when he dashes to me, I dash through him with my ult, wait the two seconds then auto and dash through him the second time. I go back and dodge his Q while using another empowered auto, then dash away with my E. Once I know I can kill him, I press E again, auto, Q and ignite and he dies. I did all of that without taking any damage other than his dash from earlier.
I want to show this ridiculous play to some friends via replay, and I downloaded it last night after I finished the game. However, because I did it directly before the latest patch, I can't watch it anymore, despite the fact that I downloaded the replay. This is where my idea kicks in: Replays should never expire. Since they're already there and are part of the coding, it doesn't make sense for them to expire with each new patch, especially if you finish those games right before the next patch goes into effect. Make the replays permanent that way we're able to show our friends or fellow "League Enthusiasts" our wicked cool plays without having to record the parts of the replay that we want.
