Now Riot definition for event is just buy a pass, get those 3-4 missions that literally ask you nothing more than farming minions and get turrets, sometimes they force you to play a tank or support for healings and of course, at least 4 thematic skins and some time a reused map skin.

In my days tho events were really events, like poro king map on christmas, or just fking urf and ofa, and I would be able to unlock icons and rewards without speding 10$ every time some event is launched.

Does lifesteal not count for the healing missions? What about red buff and other healing stuff? I swear I've done those mission before just by playing Jhin and having lifesteal runes + Bloodthirster.

And yeah. I joined in 2017. I absolutely adored Poro King. I fucking loved Ascension. Overcharge/Substructure 43 was god tier for me. The Star Guardian and Odyssey game modes were just hilarious, especially Odyssey with the amount of shit you could do in it.

I miss when events were actually fun. Just playing SR/ARAM to complete the missions is boring as hell.

10$ is kind of an understatement. i think its 1650 to get the pass, which 10$ only gets you 1380. you've got to spend another 5$ to have enough to buy the pass.

so ultimately you're spending 15 dollars to grind for tokens [sg-ahri-3]

Shurima/Ascension, ARAM update, Burning Tides, Odyssey are events and new bs is a pure money grab from Riot with the passes and prestige skins. And what's even funnier even the passes aren't an original idea of theirs, which is kinda ironic looking at everything they have done.

I just want to play the Odyssey and Star guardian PvE modes again, is that too hard to ask for? All the work has already been done so I don't see why they can't just bring it back.

I agree. It really is a shame we can't get old modes coming back. Hell, for Pyke's release we got Butcher's Bridge back.

I'll agree that the quests and game modes for events are pretty lackluster, but rewards haven't really gone down at all. Odyssey was the last event before passes I believe, and you can get almost everything you could then for free now, with the main difference being if you wanted more than 1 border or whatever from tokens, you'd have to buy bundles to get them. We don't get the equivalent of the ogyssey gem we got then, or a skin shard, but you can get everything else.

I've legit compled all my missions on the past few events without reading them.

They're all stuff you're just gonna do from playing anyway, nothing specific required. How exciting.

Yeah but the board knights will tell you Riot needs to make money somehow, and clearly focusing all their efforts into ~~skins~~ ~~LCS~~ ~~TFT~~ event passes is the only way how

I would not mind the lackluster missions If It wasn't for the stupid event passes every month that cost 15$ each. I actually have some interest in the reward in them (mostly the emotes and ward skins), but I usually manage to get the ward skin and 1 emote If I don't spend money on the pass and that's It. And let's not forget the fact If you don't own the skin and you want the event chroma, you also have to spend money for the skin separately, making those chroma rewards lackluster, at least they are for me as someone who only has one PROJECT skin.

When I first started playing this game, the first event I ever played was PROJECT: Overcharge, then Odyssey came and I was so sad I didn't start before the Star Guardian event was live. I keep on waiting for THESE types of events.

I'm all for shitting on events for being lazy, but we have to keep in mind there are also a lot more of them now. Event passes, while boring, do pay out well above their cost in skins and blue essence (if you need that still).

events feel like they are present every patch nowadays >.>. I remember when events similar to these didnt require passes, those didnt even exist actually, and instead you just did these missions and was able to get like 2 skin shards or some other things. Then the event passes came and thats all that happens. You can grab one skin shard orb, nice. It's all pretty much the same now though. Super boring. Just a different theme.
