Now Riot definition for event is just buy a pass, get those 3-4 missions that literally ask you nothing more than farming minions and get turrets, sometimes they force you to play a tank or support for healings and of course, at least 4 thematic skins and some time a reused map skin.

In my days tho events were really events, like poro king map on christmas, or just fking urf and ofa, and I would be able to unlock icons and rewards without speding 10$ every time some event is launched.

Does lifesteal not count for the healing missions? What about red buff and other healing stuff? I swear I've done those mission before just by playing Jhin and having lifesteal runes + Bloodthirster.

And yeah. I joined in 2017. I absolutely adored Poro King. I fucking loved Ascension. Overcharge/Substructure 43 was god tier for me. The Star Guardian and Odyssey game modes were just hilarious, especially Odyssey with the amount of shit you could do in it.

I miss when events were actually fun. Just playing SR/ARAM to complete the missions is boring as hell.

It definitely does. I've completed those missions before by just playing Trundle and getting the healing from his passive, ult, and Conqueror lol

it does but not as effective as playing something that actually does heals just by existing, trundle is a good example since he has healings in his kit alerdy, but i finished it in 2-3 matchs of yuumi tho.

10$ is kind of an understatement. i think its 1650 to get the pass, which 10$ only gets you 1380. you've got to spend another 5$ to have enough to buy the pass.

so ultimately you're spending 15 dollars to grind for tokens [sg-ahri-3]

you grind tokens not missions...missions are free to complete, but they do suck a$$ and very boring compared to ''before'' the only missions added when you purchase the pass is those for PP, regular missions give out 300 tokens and you dont have to pay to do them

The first "Missions" events in 2017 also had passes; they granted extra missions with rewards, not tokens-per-match. I remember they expressly stopped doing them because people felt they were required to pay to participate in the missions, since so much of it was locked behind a paywall. That's why Star Guardian 2017 and PROJECT: Hunters didn't have them. In general, making every event Pass-focused with a Prestige Skin as the ultimate grinding reward is very tiring. And here I was glad they stopped doing Golden chromas and did unique ones for each event; somehow the events are more same-y than before.

Shurima/Ascension, ARAM update, Burning Tides, Odyssey are events and new bs is a pure money grab from Riot with the passes and prestige skins. And what's even funnier even the passes aren't an original idea of theirs, which is kinda ironic looking at everything they have done.

That only matters concerning the two aug mission, you can easily carry everyone in the other missions.
Play with a friend and surrender can't happen period. Cause like I already said it's so easy to carry unless it's the two aug mission where you actually need the right Augs and the player to have brains, so if the players decide not to play then they're just wasting time since they will be dragged to the end rather they like it or not. Serves them right for trying to force mission in Pub games.

I'll agree that the quests and game modes for events are pretty lackluster, but rewards haven't really gone down at all. Odyssey was the last event before passes I believe, and you can get almost everything you could then for free now, with the main difference being if you wanted more than 1 border or whatever from tokens, you'd have to buy bundles to get them. We don't get the equivalent of the ogyssey gem we got then, or a skin shard, but you can get everything else.

I believe that most of this year's resources went into TFT (and reworks). I expect the next season to be way better, game modes-wise.

They're all stuff you're just gonna do from playing anyway, nothing specific required. How exciting.

I would not mind the lackluster missions If It wasn't for the stupid event passes every month that cost 15$ each. I actually have some interest in the reward in them (mostly the emotes and ward skins), but I usually manage to get the ward skin and 1 emote If I don't spend money on the pass and that's It. And let's not forget the fact If you don't own the skin and you want the event chroma, you also have to spend money for the skin separately, making those chroma rewards lackluster, at least they are for me as someone who only has one PROJECT skin.

Burning Tides was the best event, and probably nothing will ever top it. But that's mainly because it was actually just a live experiment to test out items, that we all got to take part in.

Shurima Ascension was... lackluster. It was an Arena mode done wrong.

When I first started playing this game, the first event I ever played was PROJECT: Overcharge, then Odyssey came and I was so sad I didn't start before the Star Guardian event was live. I keep on waiting for THESE types of events.

yeah but your complain about the passes most other games you cant get anything good if you dont buy the pass. even if u dont buy it you can still get a chroma or orb or the emotes, i just think complaining about something your getting that you dont have to be getting for free is ridiculous

No, because in Fortnite and Rocket league you can get pretty decent items without buying the pass. Just because you are getting something for free it does not make up for the inherit design flaw. I don't need to compare this to other games, to know that it's bullshit to only get one good item after 6+ quests. Just because it is free is does not make it automatically good.

no one remembers when nothing was free. it use to be oh i have to pay for skins and riot gives a way to get them free and now everyone's like oh i have to work for skins? its kinda ridiculous noone has to give anything for free

Are you on purposefully ignoring the fact that they nerfed orange essence drops, so it is even harder to redeem the skin shards you want to get? I literally have 20+ skin shards but if I wanted ONE epic one I would have to dust my other good ones and 5-10 other skins. You say that people don't remember when there wasn't freebies, but they do, and it is Riot's fault that people want them. Riot added the free systems in the first place and then made them feel horrendous to deal with, more like a chore rather than fucking rewards. Their business practices have become more greedy, even if you are paying for content you won't get much. The amount of hours you have to sink into that pass for "free" skins I could've worked for at you know, my actual job? And now look, they want you to pay for achievements, how are you going to defend that blatant attempt at nabbing my wallet? If you had to do an hour of community service for a hamburger, that wouldn't be rewarding in any way. But if I went to a restaurant and I answered a 5-10 minute survey on the quality of the restaurant and was given a free burger, that is obviously the system that works towards the consumer. You can't defend Riot with the same fucking argument over and over.

I'm all for shitting on events for being lazy, but we have to keep in mind there are also a lot more of them now. Event passes, while boring, do pay out well above their cost in skins and blue essence (if you need that still).

events feel like they are present every patch nowadays >.>. I remember when events similar to these didnt require passes, those didnt even exist actually, and instead you just did these missions and was able to get like 2 skin shards or some other things. Then the event passes came and thats all that happens. You can grab one skin shard orb, nice. It's all pretty much the same now though. Super boring. Just a different theme.
