What's this about Miscellaneous disappearing forever and GD being archived when it doesn't seem to be..?

I'm just super confused. I'm not on the boards for two days and stuff happens. (Also something about how GD was never on the front page before this change, would like some explanation on that too).

Misc and GD archived

New GD with exact same name as old GD but can appear on front page takes their place.
