Bronze Player in Gold Ranked Game

Hi! I'm currently in Bronze. I was wondering if anyone knew why when I tried playing ranked a couple of weeks ago it kept putting me in gold games. I normally just do my placements and never play ranked again so I don't really know how it works.

if you don't play ranked much your mmr is around mid silver per default so you get matched with golds
