It wouldn't be League without horrible hit boxes.
The edge of the hook's hitbox needs to touch the edge of the champion's hitbox

Yet my support still misses hooks...
I was always wondered,if ability hitboxes hit champion hitboxes and not the champion visual size,why not change both ability hitboxes to match the animation and also make champion size match their hitbox(by either increasing or increasing the other)? Is gameplay clarity too much to ask for?
I think last time they talked about hitboxes doing this stuff they said part of it had to do with camera angle deceiving us when we thought we dodged. Still a shitty hitbox tho.

It's a matter of hitbox'es actually connecting.
And then after that it just moves to a standardized position after the connection is made.
If you hold down space as you move you´ll see a circle on the ground around your character, anything that hits the circle will have an effect on your character.

blitzcrank shoots his hook with 2 ghost hooks on the sides, if any of them hit a champion then that will be the real target
That's just lollipopping hitboxes so bad players can feel better about themselves at landing hooks.
A Rioter mentioned it on Reddit a few months back, but I'll have to find the source again.
Works on things like Thresh hooks, too.

If it makes you feel any better I've seen the same thing happen except the hook was on path towards a champion and the duplicate hook decided to grab a minion.
I'll answer this correctly for you Riot has said many years ago that thresh hook, and blitz hook (possibly 1 or 2 other skillshots like it maybe naut) have a T-shape skillshot that's not shown so when it gets to the very end of the animation it doubles in width on both sides.... no idea why that is.. but that is what they told us

I think there was something I read a while ago that said that champs like thresh and blitz have the hitbox on their q's turn into a circle at the very end for a split second, causing the time/space bending hooks. Even so, still bs. [sg-shisa]
the hit boxes are part of why I hate blitz tbh. He's just poorly designed overall and it's always frustrating laning against him if you aren't leona or alistar, but the hit boxes are what really puts this champion over the edge of rage inducingly annoying imo.
I watched a video on this once. Apparently when his arm reaches its complete length then his hand's hitbox sort of opens up beyond its model size and grabs what ever I gets in contact with. So not really a bug.
He should have been deleted from the game 8 years ago :P

Someone explained it once about how Skillshots have different coding for how they connect
And they said that because of how Blitz's Q Is an Edge to Edge skillshot, when it reaches the final bit of its length, It'll "Flare out" A bit to "Scan" to see if it was ment to hit something, And this is the result.
It was actually confirmed that some skillshots have hitscans at the end of their range, so they actually have a much much bigger hitbox at max range and this includes
's Ball,
's hook ,
's spear and much more. So, to sum it up: its actually confirmed that those ugly mechanics are not actually bugs, but features...
