Let's Talk about Power Creep

So, I've been playing LoL since Xin's release, way back at the start of S1. It's been a while, I know, get off my lawn. I remember when things like"True Damage" and "%HP Damage" first became a thing, and when champions started being able to reliably do these forms of damage over long periods of time. I remember people being skeptical at the time, because the ability to completely bypass damage reduction and make bonus health useless kind of defeated the purpose of playing tanks outside of CC chains. But Riot assured us that these forms of damage would never become ridiculous, that they would tightly regulate it and wouldn't give it to too many champs to make those that do have it feel special. Fast forward about 6 years, and now we have champs like Kayle (This isn't a nerf Kayle thread, just using her as an example) that pump out massive amounts of True Damage, and items like BoRK that any champion can buy to start shredding tanks. Power Creep has set in, tanks are now useless outside of diving and CCing someone in the hopes their team can capitalize on what will most likely be their suicide attempt, and Riots only answer seems to be to give more and more champs these forms of damage to keep them in line with all the others. This is Power Creep, this is what we all feared when champs with built in tank shred were first released. Riot Promised us that Power Creep wouldn't set in, and it has. %HP Damage, True Damage, and %Max HP Damage should never have become a thing. They push the power ceiling upwards, speed up the pace of the game, and force items like BoRK to be a thing so that champions that don't have these mechanics don't feel left out.
