Game Crash on Loading Screen

The game crashes on the loading screen. I've tested it and gotten the same result three times in a row, and talked to other people who are experiencing the same issue, so it's not an isolated incident.

After the champion selection finishes the screen goes black and after about two minutes I get a failed to connect error. If I click retry I need to wait another two minutes for the same error to reappear. When I click cancel it takes me back to the PvP.net client with game crash prompt. Basically, the game is unplayable.
