why does riot make champs like this?
If Yi comes at her with a quicksilver slash, or cleanse, or Edge of Night, she literally can't do anything to stop him , because she doesn't have the burst to kill him, she has no mobility, and outside of her single target skillshot Q, she really doesn't have anything to keep people off of her.
So any ad assassin that can dodge her Q can basically do whatever they want to Morgana.
To be honest, Morgana was in a really rough way back when the assassin meta was in full swing, but now she is back at it, since the tanks are back in style.

why does riot make champs like this?
Infinite sustain- False only heals on large minions now and champions.
1 button wave clear. - False. Only kills casters at level 3, has a LONG cooldown, has a high mana cost, can't clear the entire wave like other mages. Damage is done over 5 seconds instead of instantly. It's about medium to low waveclear for a mage.
1 button CC- True. You have to press one button to cc somebody just like every other champ with a CC ability in the game. Gottem. B
Brainless ult- False. Everyone has a dash the ult is fairly useless.
CC invulnerability. Truish. You can bait it and it has a long ass cooldown
