Why is there such a huge discussion about Neeko's sexual orientation?

It's just a part of her character that doesn't define her completely. Why does she need to have a justification for being lesbian? If she had the love story that some people are asking for instead of her actual lore, they would then claim that it is forced and it doesn't belong into the game even harder. Apparently, it's never a good time to introduce a LGBT character because it's always due to a political agenda.

If there is something that I like about League, it is its variety of champions from A to Z. Some of them may have similarities but they all feel unique, and there is no problem if you identify with a champion and you enjoy playing him, it's a game, play whatever you like. Not every champion has to be the edgy guy with a dark past, diversity is the key to keep the game fresh.

Thanks for reading, I don't usually come to the boards but I wanted to share my opinion about this topic.

Why did you just make yet another thread about the same topic that has like 10 threads of it on the first page of the boards, oftentimes with the same question posed as the title?

This is false, her sexuality being part of her lore or gameplay (somehow) would give it purpose, because right now, it doesn't.

With poor character execution like Neeko's it's very easy for people to misinterpret it as such.

Very few people want more edgy "guy" characters, there are many more ways to make characters diverse other than changing their sexuality

I believe it's more about if it's queer-baiting or If she's actually lesbian. It's important to know if Riot wants to make a character that young people can relate to. Media and games are full of models where female are always sexy and males are always muscular. IT's about giving more freedom of deciding how you want to be as a kid - teenager. Diversity. It's important to make it cannon in my opinion. for now it's just a discussion but it's not in her lore. For a straight person I guess that's irrelevant. But for a queer or a person that hasn't defined their orientation or gender it's great.
