League dying?

League is only ever top on the twitch charts when it's really late in NA. (International players account for the popularity). Yet, when it is prime time for NA, PUBG/Fortnite is number one. It's just weird.. With all the complaints and my friend's list completely empty now, maybe League is really starting to stagnate and decline in NA. I would love Riot to post their numbers again.

I do know that there are absolutely no new players (meaning, actually new, not a smurf account) and have not been since around 2015. This is what should concern Riot the most.

People say "league dying" literally every single season on every single patch

IDK if league is dying or not, me personally stopped playing quite awhile now. It's no longer fun for me and it's not Riot fault, the game changed, I changed and that's how life work because nothing last forever. http://www.auplod.com/u/oduplaa3270.png

LoL isn't in the best state purely from a gameplay perspective, but it's still probably the single most popular game in the world. By that alone we can conclude that LoL is not in fact "dying."

Twitch viewership isn't doing so hot because frankly the game isn't that fun to watch, and people have lives. Consider this - we're in S8 and lots of players are veterans of at least 3+ years. We've been watching the game on twitch for tournaments and streamers for a long time, but we're all older now and we have responsibilities, jobs, relationships, bills, and other things we feel like doing with our precious, limited free time. We can and do choose to hang around with our favorite streamers from time to time, but that comes at the cost of not playing games ourselves.

Has there been unfortunate decisions in the course of League of legends development lately? Yes! Do I believe that the game is dying? Hell no!

I don't doubt that players have been dropping lately, but League of Legends still is one of the most played free to play games on the market. Despite the extremely annoying changes to IP, and making rewards more annoying to get, the free to play model is still pretty okay.

I definitely want to see some changes in this game sooner rather than later, but I don't believe that this game is even close to dying anytime soon.

Only number we got was raw revenue of 2.1 billion.

PUBG/Fortnite are new FoTM games - PUBG is already dropping rapidly from a few months ago.

LoL may shrink a little, but will likely be around in 10 years and still going strong. Riot shows none of the signs of a company running a declining game.

You know what always bothered me? Websites like lolalytics and op.gg are constantly posting the number of weekly games in every server based on division as well as the number of accounts in ranked. However, no one ever bothered to track those numbers over time even though it would easily tell us exactly how the population is doing.

That being said, anyone know how to look for archived versions of any of the stat websites? That would probably give us a decent idea.
