As a Mastery Level 7 Janna main let me tell you something

I have often seen people refer to Janna as a very easy champion. They are wrong, and dont understand Janna like her mains do. Janna is a champion with a rich, complex, and mechanically intensive kit. I had to go to college to get a degree in Philosophy before I truly began to understand Janna. Many people say that all you have to do on Janna is put your shield on your adc, but it's so much more than that. Her slow moving tornado, knowing when to shield your adc, using ult at just the right moment to save your adc, all skills I have honed to become the best Janna in the world. And how could I not be the best Janna, even Riot has acknowledged my mastery of this goddess of wind, and gave me the Mastery 7 I earned. Janna isn't just a champion, she's a way of life. Every day I pray before my wind chime, hoping to receive my goddess' blessing. I bring my Janna bodypillow everywhere I go, protecting her in the same way I protect my ADCs on the Rift. I go on Reddit to preach to my fellow Janna mains, all of whom are intellectuals like me. I revel in the suffering of bruiser mains, those vile melee champions who have not bent the knee to us superior ranged champions, they should rework every bruiser into a tank. Every time I peel another melee I smirk and give my bodypillow a hug, as I know it is Janna's will to subjugate all of the savage melee champions. Of course, those barbarians could never play something as mechanically intensive as Janna, so they must play melee champions like Darius. It is a shame that all of us could not be blessed with the same intellect required to play champions like Janna.

As a Janna main with a total mastery score of around 1 million, I can sense the uncanny mockery. I am disappointed in the fact that players like yourself who never plays Janna force Riot into changing a champion's playstyle just to suit your own...

You prefer to do tons of damage.

I prefer to mitigate that damage.

It's a playstyle that I and many others prefer to play.

Anyways. You won, you made a passive champion turn into some sort of aggressive self-peeling ADC.

Why is the thread filled with people trying to make Janna out to be even slightly complex?

I've seen psychopaths cry puddles with more depth than her gameplay.

Is your E off cooldown? Throw it on the ADC. No reason not to, since its cooldown is so damn low and it lasts for so long.

Janna is easy in comparison to other supports. Maybe not Sona Leona but many of the others. Taric ult reqires the same timing skill, but more so actually because it has a prep time attached. I main Bard and let me tell you that his ult is much harder than Janna . Heck their q's have similar projectile speeds while Janna can just hit anything in a line while he can only hit two things, and must hit two things to hard CC unlike Janna .Taric CC has a very telegraphed aoe, as does Sion . Janna shield is just timing, just like Soraka . Unlike Bard whose heal must be decided to be used on a champion directly, or laid down for the future. Yes Janna has mechanics and general game knowledge and timing that needs to be learned, but name me one champion that does not need those to do well. Janna is a less punishing champion to play than others, yes she can be better in better hands, but the majority of champions can as well. personally I do not have a problem with janna at all, but I have a problem with people calling her difficult to play.

Janna is a stronger pick based on how bad your opponents are, If you'll notice, she isn't picked nearly as much in higher elo. She is strong, but there are plenty of champions to match and even surpass Janna. A well played Nami can beat Janna no problem.

...im sure there's probably some sort of humor involved in this post that im not getting.

never-the-less there are only a few things you need to know in order to play janna.

1 is that you do almost no damage with your Q E or R combined. The W active can do about 400 damage when stacking AP. so your basic attack is your most reliable damage source.

2 is that janna's movement speed is second to none. this is due to the fact that her W has a passive component which grants movement speed based on how many points you've put into it and how much AP you have. add on top of that the fact that janna works best with boots of swiftness and ardent censor and you have a champion who cant be slowed with exceptional movement speed. just dont get crowd controlled.

3 is that cooldown reduction helps regardless, but requires mana. make sure you're getting both.

4 windspeakers blessing was designed with janna in mind.

5 passive gold, xp, and movement speed will allow you to lead your opponents through the jungle without suffering huge income deficits.

6 janna doesnt need defensive items. her kit is a massive defensive arsenal.

7 janna makes a ridiculous split pusher within certain team compositions. just make sure to ward and check your opponent's team comp for shaco, evelynn, rengar, teemo, and other similar stealthy assassins.

8 using your emotes and recall to harass your opponent into chasing you can sometimes bait your opponent into traps, but dont let yourself get cornered and remember that every second out of lane is lost income.

9 is that you cant do anything on your own. if your ally isnt in lane then go to another lane. if your ally is being rude and isnt cooperating go to another lane. if your ally is a lost cause go to another lane. you have the movement speed to do so. get your teammates lane opponent to chase you and lead them away from the lane. keep an eye on the enemy jungler and you can use the red plants to escape. or use your tornado just as you go to walk by an enemy. they cant attack when they're knocked up. being a low level is actually a benefit to playing janna because it makes it more enticing for enemies to chase you.

10 is that you do NOT get anything from leading enemies away unless you damage them or buff the ally that kills them. so dont just run around. you'll fall behind massively.

11 when solo laning as janna your goal is not to clear the wave, but to assist your minions in staying alive. jannas R can be used to heal the minion wave and her E can be placed on the turret. if you knock up the wave you can stall for time while the second wave reinforces the first one. using your basic attack to last hit minions and your W to harass your opponent. be careful about cooldowns and mana as your opponent in most cases will be able to 100-0 you in a single full rotation of their abilities regardless of how much defense you purchase. stay away from assassin lanes.

that's pretty much everything there is to know about janna. it's honestly not that hard to play her.
