Can we get another Monster Champion already??!!

Aphelios just got released and Sett's splash + story is revealed. Both are human/humanoid. Can we get another Monster type? Can we get another Rek'Sai or Vel'Koz for crying out loud?? Is Riot out of ideas? Unique monsters are so interesting imo. The last true monster we got was Rek'Sai. She was released in Dec 2014. It is well overdue. I am tired of seeing nothing but humanoid characters. [slayer-jinx-unamused]

Edit: I see some people calling out Ornn or Kindred, etc. Or mentioning Fiddlesticks and Voli updates. Even though Ornn and Kindred are not technically human they are very humanoid. Technically speaking Sett is not human but he is very humanoid. Fiddle and Voli are basically old characters just getting a big update so I am not counting them. They are not New.

What I mean by Monster are characters that do not resemble humans/humanoids at all (aka Vel'Koz & Rek'Sai). Not counting Yuumi either because she is a cat... she's a cat... not a monster (even though some people call cats monsters lol). An ASol is a Dragon...kinda like a monster but not very original and Dragons are basic mythology (yawn)... Not really a true Monster.

To clarify I do not dislike Aphelios or Sett. I just want some characters that look so unique to the League of Legends Universe... I want a true monster type. The Void is a great place to pull them from.

Almost all monster champs are less popular cause their kits are boring/simple/easily countered/under-powered. If they made interesting kits, they would sell, but they don't.

Riot's made a statement on this before. Monster champs are overall less popular than humanoid ones. They are harder to relate to, and difficult to make a wide variety of skins for. They aren't profitable.

That's not to say that they are against making monstrous champs or that they won't ever make one, but humans and human-like champions are going to be more prevalent.

We need more yordles too. Like, how about we get a yordle designed for the jungle? We have 3 toplane yordles, 2 midlane, 1 support and 1 marksman. And then we have Teemo , who just exists to piss you off.

I'm confused. You do realize Fiddlesticks Fiddlesticks and Volibear Volibear are getting quite the monstrous reworks right? It's not to say that they shouldn't think up a **new **kind of monster, but they are working on some pretty monstrous elements.

So, adding to the pool of suggestions instead of just saying, "yay/nay" to monsters, something I would like to see is a Darkin "monster."

Now, I know that Darkin is becoming a little bloated with the changes to the lore. However, I can't help but feel its a bit too... tame? Think of the whole concept of Darkin for a second. They are ascended god-warriors who were corrupted by the void. Yes, they fall into a fallen angel/demon kind of trope. However, despite their corruption, they still retain a humanoid form. We get the fallen angel vibes, but we don't really get the "corrupted by the void" vibes as much.

When I'm suggesting a Darkin "monster," I'm talking about a Darkin so far-gone that they have lost their human shape and transformed into a horrendous figure. It would add the required element of catastrophe to the concept of Darkin in a much more visual manner.

I call bull on monsters being unpopular. Sure most of the monster champs we have NOW may be, but Warwick for example, is super popular bc he's easy to play. Kindred is popular. Fizz is popular. Velkoz is popular. Ornn is popular. Teemo is popular. (dont argue, hes a lil monster.) Theyre just mad because they came up with Sol and nobody likes him.

Sol's very challenging to play. Even for veterans you gotta know what youre doing to do well with him. So if you come up with another easy to play Warwick like champ, everyone is gonna want to play them.

The reason why Kai'sa Kaisa is the way she is is because monsters don't sell well. I don't see Riot moving away from that in the near future considering that sort of track record and the skin favoritism record.

ornn is always forgotten :(

I'm pretty sure Riot said sometime before they released Yuumi that they've got a non-humanoid champion (that isn't the Fiddle/Voli VGUs) in the works. When asked if Yuumi was it, and that Yuumi is disappointing if so, since she isn't a monstrous champ as was expected, they said no, she isn't. People thought Sett might be it with his teaser, but obviously he isn't either lol. So don't worry, a new monster should be coming out sometime in 2020 :D (if i got my facts right)

I think one of the main reason that monster champions are less popular is because they are difficult to relate to. Humanoids can be easily cosplayed. I doubt you'll ever Sneaky dressed as Rek'Sai.

I'm in complete agreement, but sex sells unfortunately. It's why we are going to keep getting pretty boys and sexy gals pumped out like it's a factory. Atleast Sett seems fun personality wise.

Sir Saltarin12/12/2019, 1:16:30 AM1 votes

Ah, this is the salt that I was looking for since the new champ is pretty and will be popular and the whiny minority of the playerbase on the Boards wants ugly unpopular champs for some reason.

If they do I want it to be a humanoid "monster" like DrMundo.

I hoenstly thought Sett was gonna be some sort of pig/Alistar/Sion hybrid with a pigs head. Disappointed.

We would have to wait until Blizzard releases Starcraft 3 and mades new Zerg units, as most monster champs are literal ripoffs of that franchise.

Besides, Riot hates monsters. Why do you think that Skarner has gone for 4.5 years without a skin and with consistent 0.7% pickrate?
