Why does Riot continue to lie to its player base?

This statement is just false. Out of the couple of hundreds of people I've met that play this game, at least 20-30 have been perma banned for toxicity at one point or another. Not 6 out of 100,000 players like they say.

(0.006% = 6 out of 100,000)

You have met a couple of hundred players, and only 20-30 have been banned at one point or another? Do you check on every single player you play with/against to make sure they are banned?

This explicitly means you associate with toxic players. It doesn't implicitly mean that the playerbase is toxic.

Like if I based my opinion of the US on Alabama I'd assume the US is massively incestuous, but no that's just Alabama.

You have to remember that a lot of people have multiple accounts, so each player is not 1:1. Its more like 1:2, or 1:3.

0.33 effective relevancy for each person could drastically skew numbers....

But still, not that far. Riot has to be lying.

I'm curious how this works as well, I assume they add level 1-x accounts so all those accounts that were made and never made it to level 30 because they didn't bother learning league probably are counting. Even with that though it still doesn't seem right.

Would like to see the actual statistics, but then that would show off how flawed their punitive system is.

Arammus12/25/2019, 11:31:03 PM3 votes

if you google for "500.000 free euw accounts" you will find a very old facebook post of a "hacker" group (more like free rp page owners) that post the accs they got. out of curiosity i checked. 48 of the 50 accs i checked got permabanned.

if we just assume 480.000 of 500.000 accs are permabanned, thats alrdy more than 0.006%.

but man its riot we are talking about they are never honest. gotta adapt big daddy chinas ways.

S Tier Waifu12/25/2019, 8:00:39 PM3 votes

they are including all the bots, all the people who haven't been banned yet, all the alternate accounts people have (i have roughly 25 alternate accounts for reference and i'm one player)

their statistics are skewed garbage, but the way they portray them, not exactly wrong either

Your evidence is completely anecdotal. You have no knowledge of the actual statistics. 0.006% is reasonable considering how many people play this game who aren't complete assholes on multiple occasions.

Why do people make posts with loaded questions and expect a response?

Nea10412/26/2019, 12:57:35 AM2 votes

Because a huge part of their playerbase is made of bots, and bots don't get banned :P

You need to associate with less toxic players or those con people are lying to you. Ive played since season 2. Ive played thousands of games and met countless friends and ive only known 1 of them to ever recieve a ban at all and it was only a temp one.

If you have talked to 20-30 perma banned people out of a few 100 something is really wrong with your circle

Im proud to represent the 0.006 that had a bad day and were instantly punished for it

Chainman312/26/2019, 3:50:24 AM2 votes

at least 20-30 have been perma banned for toxicity at one point or another

Can you prove this statement?

LordGeovanni12/26/2019, 4:39:43 AM2 votes

I assume they count accounts but so many people have multiple accounts. and many of the accounts are dead inactive accounts.

0.006% from 100000 is 6. meaning every 1 milion players on average 60 get perma banned. and every 10 mil 600 get perma banned. knowing how many players are in league. lets say 40 milion across all servers. thats 2400 perma banneed accounts across 10 years? xd buddy i alone have 15 every streamer has more than 10. every l9 player has more than 20 and tons and tons of more players who brag in all chat "smurfing" right after getting the last one banned.

i again say this 0.006% from 40 million is 2400 and from all the clips and posts of people complaining about getting banned. we can safely assume the actualy number is around 5-10% not 0.006%. simple math.

AND BEFORE PEOPLE WHO CANT READ AND ASSUME THINGS! I DONT DEFEND PERMA BANNED PLAYERS! im just doing simple maths explaining there is no way that number is true.

edit: across my time of playing league and browsing forums and league clips. i alone have seen more than 10k posts total of people complaining about getting perma banned ._.

I am living proof that riots ban system sucksssssss. Ggez Vlad gave Annie and Zoe their first blood after killing them in lane

Some players, though may have behaved negatively in one game that you've witnessed, does not ultimately mean they behave negatively in other games afterwards.

Those who consistently behave negatively are that the few that do get permanently banned.

Old account got permad even though i was improving over time. I was on a nice slope down to not flaming. But i happened so many times and they count each offense as worst then the last. So even though i was getting better i still got banned. But hey i dont spend money on lol anymore because they gave me 0 options to get that shit back (which they dont have to) Still would be nice to have my DJ sona and Elementalist lux back. Oh and owning every champion was nice.

2gudaiya12/26/2019, 10:10:37 AM1 votes

how toxic are you and your crew to get banned so often? of all the players I've met over the years on smurfs and social apps not even a single one has been banned from the client itself lol. so that's 0% of 54 players.

Quite frankly, the OP's original came is completely unreliable, anecdotal at best. If a real "survey" was done, this post would be something like:

We surveyed 315 number of people at the 2019 Twitchcon and asked the following questions:

  1. Have you ever had an account permanently banned on League of Legends?
  2. dot dot dot
  3. Etc...

Of the 315 number of people surveyed, 24 confirmed they had at least one permanently banned account and 3 declined to answer.

Instead we get the wishy washy "of the couple hundred people I've met 20-30..." which basically amounts to hogwash.

If the OP had actually conducted a real survey, we could at least talk about methods, quality of questions, method of attracting survey takers, etc. As it is, I'm not even convinced any sort of survey was was ever performed.

Also, just to toss in my own anecdotal evidence, in 10 years of playing this game no one on my friends list has ever been permanently banned.
