I haven’t played since June, what’s changed and what’s the new top lane meta?
Looking to start playing again seriously. My mains before I quit were Tryn, Teemo, and Garen. Also, are these champs still viable?

I'm a Garen one trick and he is still playable up there. From personal experience I'd definitely say top lane is in an odd state, because there doesn't seem to be much of a meta up there right now. There's certain champions who are good (Yorick, Vayne, and the like) but it does feel like people are experimenting a bit more.
Your three champs should still be very playable, just make sure you go in with an open mind because you may need some build/playstyle changes to counter what's going on.
If you're good at it, heck, anything is viable. Now whether it's good or not, is the question. Your picks seem to be better utilized as counter picks than a solid safe pick into not knowing what the opposing top laner will pick, so perhaps check out some top laners that will do relatively good in any matchup. Things like Maokai and Vlad.
All in all, just play what you're good at and towards your champion strengths. Its also important to realize the strengths of the champion you're up against. Runes and builds have changed as well, so take a couple games to switch up your previous paths accordingly.
