The day of reckoning is upon us...

Make sure you turn off you adblock on YouTube because your account gets nuked. No this is not a fear mongering post, several social media lawyeers have confirmed that YouTube may terminate, and by some extension google, your account for using adblock as it can be seen as a theft of services and is very much to be argued that since you are the product and you are no longer commercially viable, it is better from the company to get rid of you all together. Services do include content you place on your channel as storing that content is not able to break even to justify storing it.

If you're in EU you have some hope but NA RIP, time to sign out. I use Brave Browser so idk how serious this can get yet since my browser auto stops all trackers and ads much like firefox.

YouTube is doing a lot to just murder itself these days.

I'd be fine with ads if they weren't insanely intrusive and filled with malware this is also far too late in youtube's lifetime to make a drastic change like this and completely break status quo

What if I just sign out of all my accounts and watch YouTube without an account?

....

Wait, it's Google so they'll know somehow. RIP. I liked not having every 2 minutes of a 15 minute video interrupted by a 15 second gum ad with a dude making out with a zombie.

Two words: Fuck Youtube.

I guess i'm done with YouTube. The only times I watch it are when i'm not in any position to stop what i'm doing, get up, and skip the ad, so i'll just watch something else I guess.

Just use Hooktube.

Guess I'll just be using TOR for everything now, since there are zero ads there even without adblock.

Is it a US only change or global?

Right now if you use Brave Tor of FF as your primary browser (really Brave and Tor) you are argue adblock is integrated into the code itself and as a consumer there's nothing you can do. FF is a grey area as you can choose to turn it on/off. Chrome is a no-go.

I remember reading weeks ago this exact same thing from some article saying that this was a POSSIBILITY. Did they recently start banning people or is this just a 'warning'?

People try to make money with ads in their videos. Imagine yourself trying to make a living off of videos, only for some greasy scumfucks to go "meh" and use an ad blocker to deny it.

Oh, and the people who make the ads pay so that their ads can be shown somewhere. It's logical to ban adblockers so that ads go through and reach the viewers.

Ads are the economy of the Information Age why are you surprised that companies are trying to protect that ?

I pay for premium because I recognize this situation.

Sounds like youtubes committing suicide then because i've seen what their channel is like without adblock and its the stuff of nightmares, add to that i know most creatorss no longer get revenue from ads because corporations go around claiming their ad revenue as their own so the chance that my favorite youtuber gets the money from an ad i watch is 10% and a 90% the copright claim dude gets it.
