The comment was literally,

"Meanwhile Kayn weeps in the abyss between oblivions...idiot."

It is literally a line Rhaast says in base Kayn talking about how Kayne wasted his potential after he takes over.

Personally I don't care if the comment is restored I just need clarity on if we're allowed to meme along with our fellow summoners using champion quote or not.

I didn't want to insinuate that the moderation team are big, evil villains, I just said that I found the action, intentional or not, unfair.

Well I also don't want to insinuate that. I want to state it outright. Mods are biased and lazy. If your comments are in line with the circle jerking going on here on the boards, then they are fine NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAID. But if they aren't, then the most inoffensive arguments and jokes get removed.

Having personally removed a ton of comments I agreed with the opinions of due to how they expressed those opinions, I can attest this is not the case. If you see comments that break the rules, report them. If you feel they are not being handled, come here or to the moderation Discord and ask us to take another look.

It works. Contrary to popular belief I don't actually go into action reviews with an eye to say the moderator in question acted appropriately. My default is to assume that the player in question has a legitimate concern, and I overturn moderator actions when I deem it appropriate. Hence things like my interest in this thread.

To me, "crossing the line" would be knowing it was a quote in context and removing it anyway. A reasonable mistake is not knowing it was a quote and removing it for calling a player an idiot. But you can call it what you wish.

There were over 160 moderator actions in the last 2 days, not counting reports dismissed because we deemed them not worth taking action upon. Three posts on Discuss the Boards have gone up about actions. Even assuming that all three are valid, that's about a 0.5% problem rate. I don't like it when things aren't handled correctly. I try to fix it. But if our rate of incorrect removals is below 1%, I'm happy. It sucks for the people in that 1%, and I get it, but 1% is pretty good.

Was it on this account? I can't actually seem to locate the action in question, and I'd like to investigate and possibly restore the comment. This one is almost certainly fine (pending context -- if you're using it to actively insult someone it wouldn't be), but there are a lot of champion lines and we don't have them all memorized.

Jeez. I get you’re frustrated about something else, but you’re blowing this way out of proportion.

The “Kahn weeps in the abyss between oblivion” is obviously a quote. But the . . . After it would lead me to believe that the “idiot” was added. The only way to rectify that would be to force the moderators to spend 10 minutes reviewing every line and combination of words in a post to see if it’s a League quote before they action things. That’s not going to be feasible.

It’s the same as a police officer using a malfunctioning radar gun - you’re still going to get a ticket for it, but you show up to court and they’ll throw it out. That’s exactly what’s being done here.

This sub-board exists for situations like this (among others), and it was used properly here and achieved the necessary resolution. Given that this is, to my knowledge, the first time that this sort of champion-quote situation has arisen, I'm not about to make everyone google everything they action just in case a champion says it.

And yeah, I am going to make that comparison because I'm utilizing the same standards of the moderation team across the board to show just how lackadaisical a good chunk of them are.

Typically to know them "by heart" might not be realistic, but in most cases (especially one with the champion's name involved) I would expect them to at least go "that sounds familiar" and look it up.

you dont fix this by having everyone nerf their chat, you fix this by telling mods that you have to have a REASON to ban it

and after so many reasons that end up being wrong, they get canned...its incentive to not go ban happy and ban everything you dont like for no reason, because you would be held to your ban and have to produce a reason and if the problem got elevated and overturned the mod would get a red check saying you fkd up

so many checks and youd be canned...simple concept, pretty much every job in the world runs on this concept....some dont even get the S, they get one check and its a wrap...while some, like the mods here, get infinity checks.....so is they a real downside to going ban happy?

That's not really the case though. It's important to note that we (and Riot) can see a lot more than simply the actions that get brought up here on Discuss the Boards. We can see that moderator's complete list of actions, history of actions, types of punishments given, etc. We do talk to mods internally when we see problematic patterns, and have removed moderators before. We just don't have a hard number, because frequency and severity of mistakes vary.

To be fair it can be difficult for some to understand what warwick says. His VO is very deep and somewhat un-clear to me and I used to main him pre and post rework.

I think you underestimate the number of actions that occur, and the ratio of proper actions to improper ones. People who understand why they got the action they did rarely post on the boards about it, after all, so what we see tends to be a cross-section of those who are either angry or confused -- sometimes justifiably (like this case) and sometimes unjustifiably.

There are a lot of actions, and the mistakes that I do find tend to be fairly minor for the most part -- take this example, which was a removal and no punishment issued. If there's someone who is reliably making mistakes or semi-reliably making large mistakes, we'll address it.
