If your going to downvote someones post or someones comment.. Do it for a legitimate reason.

Seriously... What is wrong with this god forsaken community? Is there just a side of the community where people down vote other people just for the sake of it? At least show the courage to reply back about why you feel that you have the NEED to down vote someone. It's a shame that internet trolls exist on the internet.

It's also best if these people give their point of view or their stance on the matter being presented. It would be wise to give and show constructive criticism or to just say how you feel about he/she's comment or post. I wish there were some good Stuarts and Samaritans in this community. Apparently their isn't at all anymore...

For those who do up vote others and do give back constructive criticism and feedback, I give you a thumbs up! For those that down vote and just don't care.. I open the door for a way to improve your behavior. If you just open your heart to the matter at hand and explain what you think is better.. we can all come to an agreement on it. Otherwise, You are wasting other peoples time and fueling the fire for more: rage, hate, discontent, and over all upsetting other people in this community.

Sometimes, the post is so stupid that it doesn't even need a response. Like if someone's grossly exaggerating numbers that are easy to look up.

Other times, a different response already explained what was wrong with the post/comment.

Most of my time spending at the boards is at the player-behaviour section so I can only really talk about my experiences there.

I mostly downvote this stuff:

  • Threads with topics discussed billions times - OP clearly did not make the effort to atleast research it a bit. I am interested in having a discussion and would even like to discuss a certain topic billions times given that they always provide a new argument/inputs.
  • When the person is in general an idiot and ass to other players. Don't get me wrong - some and then written text can come across rude as the wording is poorly done but I refer to real attacks or intentionally behaving this way.
  • People who have zero interest in the actual discussion and are just "Riot big bad" + false information + "everyone who disagree is a SJW or keyboard warrior or leftist.

I am one of the users here who would openly admit when they downvote stuff (already did + explained it in the past) when asked. Sometimes people were faster than me and already provided a full comment what's wrong and sometimes I am too lazy as I could argue with the same 1-3 people over hours without finding an end.

Votes quantify agreement, which reduces the effort needed to not only make one's voice heard, but also to hear others' voices.

You are misrepresenting downvotes as being used for nothing but pointless hatred and upvotes as always being positive and useful.
