I’ve tried going bruiser and duelist builds while ahead as well as staying a true tank but it seems if there isn’t at least one competent teammate I can’t hard carry, which seems to be the case for a decent amount of true tanks I’ve tried. The only reason I’m asking for Shen is because his kit design makes it very possible to carry but I feel I just might be missing something here so someone help me 1v9 low elo pls

Shens not a solo carry champion, so trying to play him like one probably isn't going to go well. He also is a very good macro play champion, which makes him very susceptible to nerfs especially this time of year with the world tournament. But to carry with him, R bot, win the fight and take bot tower, tp back top, and protect your ad in teamfights. You carry by saving the people on your team with damage
Gonna clarify here i play a fuck ton of Shen I don’t need tips on how to play him I’m looking for people who actually play Shen duelist and bruiser builds as a top laner successfully. Don’t need people to tell me he’s designed to be a support player help your team etc. I’m aware. Not the topic here
Diamond shen obviously do not build any offensive items other than titanic hydra. I am a shen main too its not like I don't know.
You don't carry with Shen, you play Shen to let/help/support your teammate carrying you.
Build as a laning item. Then 
for income and vision.
