Why in the world is hip hop a thing
It's just lyrics with a beat slapped over them. Might as well just read an actual poem or a book.

I like all types of music and I gots to say... Hip hop has it's rights to being a thing just as much as any other music out there, music is music and everyone has their own taste towards it. I think what you meant to ask was "Where in the world are decent hip hop artists?" because right now there are next to none... This generation of childrens(not h8in) have taken hip hop to a rock bottom level, copy + pasting each other's pointless and non creative lyrics over a dope beat someone else made for them. I guess in general hip hop is just wack these days I won't deny that, but once again I'll say it has it's rights just as any other genre does to being 'a thing'
You just described everything I hear when I turn on a radio these days.
Becuase in the mid to late 90s MTV told all the kids it was cool. Fast forward to taday and it is still being portrayed as edgy and cool.
I bevieve it is because “rappers” are a dime a dozen and real musicians are harder to find. Also, because they shit and kniw it, the record labels own them. Could you imagine big record labels telling some of the greats what to do?
Every genre of musics is just lyrics with beats put over it except for the kind that has no lyrics at all.
This is such a senseless post. OP, music is music. Rap is 'noise' just as any other music genre is. I'm actually mind boggled at the moment as to how this can even be a topic, you need to learn to appreciate music for what it is and why any sorts of sound might appeal to us human. It's all a matter of opinion and there's nothing my favorite artists or yours can do to change that, ever. MUSIC IS MUSIC, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO SOUND A CERTAIN WAY TO BE CONSIDERED MUSIC. I really feel like it's possible for some people to run around without a brain lol
