Do you... have something against volunteers? I used to volunteer at a charity shop, yes, for free. Is there something weird about that?
How else will I swing around my giant e-peen??
Yeah we should all thank the mods for giving up their time to help the boards stay clear of any toxic behavior and sorting out any other problems.
Jesus lord almighty some people in this thread...
You do realize that these volunteers... VOLUNTEER? Riot isn't forcing anybody to do anything. Half the point of volunteering is deliberately giving your time to someone for a cause you deem worthy.
If someone wants to volunteer at a hospital gift shop, they're doing it not to try to become a nurse, not to make money, but to donate time in a way that will help out the hospital. Paying such people would void the entire purpose of volunteering to begin with.
And the reason why the moderation here is a team of community volunteers as opposed to paid outsiders is because the community who posts here and has been here for years know better what GD is all about. Trust me, you do not want to go back to the dark days of old GD moderation. It was a god damn travesty. People worked hard to get the boards away from that.
Yep i said the same thing on this post https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/general-discussion/AY75q1EX-moderating-abuse And people assumed the upvotes were bots because no one could be against mod abuse.
Also no one is constantly posting "MODS R MURDER" posts all the damn day like on the old forums.
hey some people love to have power over others, that's why people be willing to volunteer to be a mod.
Obviously isn't always the case, some do it because they like the game, be it because they're fanboys or just normal fans of the game, others do it because they want to better the community etc, but some of them just do it to have power over others.

It's mostly taking advantage of people and should be illegal TBH. I get why small indie companies may need it, but there should be a limit.
Some areas have minimum wage laws sperate based on size of the company, this should be no different, and Riot should be ashamed.
It doesn't matter that the people are willing, it's still taking advantage. It also denies the positions to others that might need jobs. Or even paying the ones doing it.
It's all around sketchy, and goes along with recent incidents with Riots legal issues which have shown that they try to do what they have to in a legal sense, but don't seem to understand why. In short, there's a disconnect between Riot and morals.
