Gifting champs with BE?

I dunno where else to post this, so forgive me if I'm wrong.

For those of us that have been playing for a long time, Blue Essence tends to pile up, right? Even with buying new champs the day they release the number just keeps going up. I know we get the yearly BE sales on rare skins and such but as someone that isn't really interested in what it has to offer, what do I spend it on? What I'd really like to do is gift my newbie buddies that champ they tried on free week and loved, get them hooked on the game so I have more people to queue with, but I don't have the RP for that.

So, why not let us do it with BE? Champs only of course, I know Rito's main money maker is RP for skins. It gives us a place to use all the extra BE while pulling in potential new Real Money™ spenders for Rito. Keep the prices in line with what they already are (ie 7200 if I wanted to gift Senna right now) or even a modest increase as a 'convenience/gifting fee' (~500 more maybe?) for using BE.

Just spitballing here. A friend I'm trying to get in thinks Pyke is dope as heck and I wish I could hook him up.

Now this argument is made almost every seasons (particularly a big case in uh.. I believe S7?) and the main counter argument for this being no, is that it helps smurfs and encourages people to grief low elo with their alt accounts.. I am in favor of gifting with BE, but there would need to be a solution.

Would be abusable, also riot apparently makes a decent amount off people buying champs (i heard this somewhere, but always thought it was weird cuz I never bought a champ with rp) so doubt they would do it.

Seriously champs should just be free like in dota but riot gotta get that $$ i guess

Riot does earn from people buy champs with rp. But I think it would be cool if they did somekind of event for christmas, where you can gift 1 or 2 champions with BE to friends or something.

I bought a bunch of champs with RP on my account but I would always wait for them to be on sale. The others I got when we could RR 3 shards of champs and get a random champ. I doubt they will ever let us gift people with BE but I just wish it was more useful once you owned all the champs.
