Can we make Sej's engage more.. reliable?

ADepressedLeona··1 votes·310 views

Out of all the tanks in the game, Sej's engage is arguably the worst. Yes I know it has a pretty good range, and that's fine, but it's also a skill shot and it's very easy to whiff or just flat out dodge it. Not to mention it can easily be body blocked by the tankier front line, making the back line that much more difficult to reach. Couple that with a very punishing cool down, and Sejuani is left with an ultimate that just feels very lack luster in comparison to other tanks.

Don't get me wrong, landing a 3-5 man ult as Sej feels very rewarding, but the enemy literally has to be in one big clump, in which case any other tank would be just as good if not better.

I can't really think of many tanks with more reliable engage than Sej honestly. Most of the ones I can think of are unreliable, even ones like Amumu which don't have reliable follow up CC like Sej has. What are some tanks you want Sej to be more like?

Malph, Leona, Mumu, all have much better engages that don't rely on skillshots, with the exception being Mumu (All three of them are pretty large areas) and they (with the exception being Mumu) don't have to worry about the front line completely stopping their ult.

And even if Mumu tags the front line with his Bandage Toss, his ult is still large enough to usually tag a few others too.

Agreed on Malph, not the others though. I'd say it's much harder to engage as Amumu than as Sej, and Leona is skillshot reliant even if her skillshots can't be bodyblocked by tanks. Even so I think there are situations where Glacial Prison is comparably easy/easier to hit than Solar Flare.

Malphite is the only tank with incredibly reliable engage, most of the rest have some level of unreliability to them and that includes Leo/Amumu. Sej just seems to fit in there. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't say no to buffs for her but I just think her engage is perfect as it is. Glacial Prison is a fun ability and sure it can miss but most tank initiations can go wrong in one way or another. Malphite is the only "it's basically impossible to go wrong with this" one, maybe Alistar too.

long range AoE stun is reliable enough

it's you, not the champion. Sej doesn't need a buff

All the alternatives you listed have an initial burst of hard CC to lock down what essentially may be an entire team, it's true, but Sejuani is the queen of slows. She goes in, knockups up the front line, ults the backline point blank, and slows everyone around her with multiple soft CC tools at her disposal. Not even Amumu or Leona can do that.

How is a ranged AOE hard CC unreliable? Have you tried just not throwing it at tanks? Try Q'ing into the tanks, smacking them a little bit, and then ulting their carries when they try to help their team instead.

Sion's engage is harder to land than sejuanis. sej is one of the easiest, and she can do it at range.

WHAT That ult engage was so reliable in the past that Riot had to actually remove around 60% of the slow that you got from missing the target. And yet, It's STILL reliable because you'd have to be braindead to miss it anyway.

How players misuse that I don't even know.

Sej needs buffs. Just not in the engage area.

she has the best engage

what about nautilus

what about nautilus

Naut is more adept at locking down a single target more so an entire team. And it seems like I'm highly disagreed with on this, which is fine lol. I just know I've had situations were is nigh impossible to reach the back line with my ult and just kinda felt useless because ulting the front line really wouldn't do much of anything other than waste my ult.

Sejuani's ultimate is one of the strongest in the game and the rest of her kit already suffers from how huge a chunk of her power budget is taken up by her R button, it does not need a buff. If you are too terrible at this game to land a skillshot then just pretend you're a more reliable Amumu and Q into melee range beforehand so you can't possibly miss.

It's like Poppy's ult: yes, you CAN hit someone from a long ways away but 90% of the time it's better to just use it in melee range and leave the long range clutch ults for rare situations that separate the bad Sej's from the good Sej's.
