Ban phase just needs to be renamed to "What bullshit do I feel like putting up with this game?"

ADepressedLeona··262 votes·7,457 views

Fucking give us ten bans already.

EDIT:

For those of you demanding reasoning behind my post, I'll explain.

Every meta there seems to be champions that are basically must bans because anyone playing them that's even halfway decent at them will just rip your team a new asshole.

Then you have champions who are just so incredibly frustrating to deal with that you might as well go smash your face against a brick wall.

And then at the VERY BOTTOM of the spectrum, you have champions that actually counter your team comp... except banning them means you leave open the other two categories and the game turns into a shit show anyways.

Now, I don't know about any of you, but I should be able to ban champions who actually counter my comp without being fisted by champions who are poorly designed and balanced.

I play Illaoi. Which category is that?

I don't play Illaoi myself but I don't mind playing against her, she can be very strong in competent hands, regardless, she has clear weaknessess that you can use against her unlike the abominations mentioned in VastoLordeh's post so she's A-OK by me.

TTUPhoenix1 votes

I don't have any real problems playing against her myself, and her weaknesses are pretty clear once you play her a while. That said, people tend to get stupid around Illaoi, which makes my job a lot easier. XD

I will generally beat Illaoi ;), given I don't get counterpicked by her. I sometimes mess up though and get steamrolled, but that's entirely fair, seeing as I knew what I had to do and still messed up or simply got straight up outplayed.

Illaois kit is healthy because it actually allows you to make mistakes against her and get away with it during the laning phase, most champions have kits that give you some kind of room to make a single mistake and get away with it, albeit with lower healthbar and the need to either back or hide behind your turret.

It's the most obnoxious and toxic champs that have kits that allow them to fuck up against you endlessly yet you can barely punish them for it, but god forbid you make a single mistake, you will not only lose your laning phase, you will probably lose the game. This is the reason why I rarely play this game anymore, the difference in power between S-tier and balanced champs is no longer large, it's freaking gigantic thanks to the new snowball amplifying masteries and core.

But the truly loyal mains are few these days

And when said main is strong people think they are just part of the group 1.

rip nasus and sion...I will still play you vs some hard match ups just cause I still have faith in you.

HighH13 votes

Nasus lane is one of the easiest lanes at low gold-silver. Start with 15 or 20% CDR and just stack, don't waste mana on E,and just whatever you do don't die or leave lane too long.Start cloth 4 pots vs AD and ruby crystal vs anything else. This gives you a jump start on Glacial Shroud or Kindlegem.Back whenever you can buy these.Just rush for 40/5% CDR and get a sheen for better stacking.Don't die pre6 and you should be able to start fighting the toplaner easily.

can confirm as 570k Zed main

JMoormann26 votes

Saying that you are a Zed main on the Boards = guaranteed downvotes.

Shadòw3 votes

ikr all these crybabies xD

Biff Manly24 votes

I'm downvoting this one. Not because you're a Zed main, but because you're being a jerk.

(not that there's a difference huehuehue)

SrirachaLimes6 votes

... how is he being a jerk?

If anything, down voting someone for simply having a champ as their main is being a jerk.

This is coming from a Vel'Koz main. I hate laning against Zed. But at least I have the ability to think clearly and without bias and see what's wrong here.

Biff Manly7 votes

Calling somebody a "crybaby" is not quite within the qualifications for being "nice"

There are plenty of ways to say what he said without being so condescending.

SrirachaLimes5 votes

And downvoting someone because they main a champion is also not being nice.

What's your point?

Biff Manly5 votes

My point is I don't like people who resort to name-calling when they disagree with somebody.

Also, I cannot downvote other people's downvotes. So whether they're being jerks or not really has little impact on anything.

SrirachaLimes3 votes

And downvoting someone just because you don't like the champ they like is equally childish.

In other words, him calling them cry baby's, while a childish retaliation and not true as a whole of their character, is true with regard to that particular action (downvoting someone because you don't like the champ they main).

Biff Manly1 votes

So you're trying to justify his choice of insulting the people who downvoted him? Because they were being childish, the best thing for him to do was insult them?

Come on, neither of them are in the right.

SrirachaLimes2 votes

I'm trying to defend him, because no one else seems to want to, since everyone is consumed with their bias against him simply because he plays a champ that they hate.

What's wrong with that?

Yeah, we need to see more champs like Jayce and Rumble.

KING 5HARK2 votes

Then play them, they're perfectly viable

bill841 votes

I'm trying to learn Jayce right now, but I don't own rumble and was very unsuccessful with him when he was free, I just thought he was a good example of balanced and hard to play. Right now, I play Galio, Poppy, Heim, Veig, and Rammus in ranked, but I am hoping to be able to play jayce there soon.

macromite7 votes

rumble is actually pretty easy, once you realize that he should be going in only one direction, and that direction is in.

Type 2 (So braindead, there's literally no way to screw up): Master Yi, etc.

Ever played Yi on Diamond level? He has 0 ways to fix his mistakes, if you want champ that has no way to screw up its Lee Sin or Kindred that got hundred ways to disengage if they fuck up.

I wouldn't exactly get Veigar in the same group as the others.

Not even Vladimir is worth a ban.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

Most of them are really personal bans.

The more legitimate ones are just Ekko Lucian Zed but even then Zed and Ekko have become somewhat preference bans since now they're pretty reasonable but still frustrating and unfun to play against.

Cache of Cash1 votes

Lucian doesn't even really need a ban until higher gold/low plat ish

trust me, as a low elo guy, that fucker is in every game. and we too, want some goddamn variety in our games.

i have 0 issues playing vs Ezreal Veigar Malzahar

malz can be a pain the butt to deal with but thats hardly a new thing he has always been annoying like that

if you have trouble facing him play syndra into him becasue malzahar now heavily relies on his voidling swarm for dps since he lost much of his burst

You can just use scatter the weak to nullify most of his damage, just a tip

This is probably the most accurate description ive ever heard of champ select.

Baby Ghoul23 votes

You accurately described what I've been feeling this whole season.

The broken FotMs are far more numerous than they used to be.

There are also certain champions that naturally preform well because of the nature of a certain league. For instance I'm Silver 2 right now and there are a few I need to watch out for because this is a team game. Volibear Ekko Amumu Malzahar Annie

Not only that, but I'm tired of seeing the same champions every game. In bot lane there is almost always Lucian or Ezreal, and sometimes Cait.

I never believed that the banning section was only based on strategy, but Riot seriously needs to do something about those champions that have too much influence on the game. There's no longer just one or two of them at any given time.

The universally despised category is growing bigger with each patch.

Because players suck and rather ban something instead of learning to play against it

macromite6 votes

I ban things that I don't like to play against, even if I know how.

Ira Gamagori2 votes

Sorry if I sound like a jackass, but the problem is some champions would just dissappear from the pool. It comes down to personal opinion, I like playing Yasuo because I enjoy his fantasy and kit, but this would mean that he is just not accessible. Same with the other champions the community deems toxic. It all comes down to preference, and some champions like Fizz or Zed would be just permaban both in normal draft and ranked. Even though I hate playing against certain champions, for example Azir, I would hate to see a champion being literally unplayable because its "annoying".

Great way to promote discussion

I'm not responding to someone who just says, "Learn to play against them. :^)"

That's not a discussion. Obviously I'm forced to play against his BS main because there are champions out there right now that are even more frustrating and stupid to play against. What now?

There's no discussion. He got the response he deserved by replying to people in that way.

Wait, so just yelling "git gud scrub" isn't helpful? I'm so shocked. /s

Yeah it is quite the revelation apparently.

There is no discussion being promoted when you reply to a thought out and honest post in an insulting know it all way, especially when you're low ELO just like me and a troll pole abuser. I feel safe saying that Fizz is up there with Zed in the amount of dislikes he gets from the community at large. That doesn't mean you should stop playing a champion like Fizz or stop liking them. Balance is largely out of our control currently, but don't turn around and try to tell others to git gud.

I myself was a Fiora main for years, and when her broken rework happened I still played her even though she got a massive amount of hate on the boards. I just didn't reply to everyone saying nerf Fiora with an insulting reply like that. The difference is I was honest with myself.

She's still not in an ideal place, but I feel so much better knowing she won't be banned every single game. So if you're a Fizz main, do your thing because I don't have an ax to grind with you. My issue is with the balance team. Yours should be too, because imbalance of this scale is bad for everyone, even the people who main said champions.

It could be coincidence/bad luck, as I just mentioned I understand that, but if you act like that guy it is probably not because you truly believe that it is because others don't know how to play and only you know how to play.

I won't be promoting discussion with those types of people though. Just a heads up for anyone who tries what he did or tries to defend that BS one liner that he tried on me.

I know people are going to disagree with my original post, and that's fine because we aren't all exactly the same. However when you're disrespectful like that I don't think you deserve anything more than what you put out there.

KING 5HARK2 votes

Believe it or not, I play against my "BS main"(coming from a Soraka main) aswell, I dont have any problem at all with it. Seems to be your problem, not a problem with the champ

Baby Ghoul3 votes

The only problem I have was your stank attitude.

Also I'm not really a Soraka main anymore, so you can keep the creepy winky face to yourself. I've turned to Leona now. If you still have an issue with Soraka after the grievous wounds revert and the nerfs she deserved, then that's truly on you. SO many people dislike Fizz though, and it's not hard to see why.

I already addressed why I dislike people who act the way you do. I know what it's like when your main is considered toxic to play against because I did main Fiora for years and I didn't stop playing her after her broken rework, but you know what I didn't do King 5hark? I didn't go on the boards and tell people to just, "Learn to play. Git Gud :^)"

You aren't a bad person for playing those champions because it could genuinely be just coincidence, but you are if you address legitimate issues in the way you do.

So no. I don't have a problem with Fizz mains, but I do have a problem with Fizz mains that reply to people the way you do.

KING 5HARK2 votes

I know what it's like when your main is considered toxic to play against

Actually, I dont care, Fizz has been called toxic since his release

SO many people dislike Fizz though, and it's not hard to see why.

And most of them(like about 70-80% of the player base) are gold and below, doesnt really gush of skill here, thats why I made the (seemingly rude) assumption of players just being bad. If you cant handle the fact that just learning to play against them is halfway there to win against them, I cant say anything to you that would matter, so whatever.

Learn to play. Git Gud

Unfortunately, thats the problem. People cant handle that most of their problems stem from them simply just being bad and not from being a problem with a champions kit

but I do have a problem with Fizz mains that reply to people the way you do.

Tell the truth?

Baby Ghoul2 votes

You yourself are part of that player base, so I don't know why you're acting like you're better than everyone. You're not.

You're just delusional. Fizz has a 52.25% win rate in Diamond with a 31.39% pick rate. His ban rate is 30.91%, that's very high. I believe higher than in lower ELO. But the facts don't matter to you.
