hes an early lane bully, but in the end hes a melee champion who needs to get in close to deal damage, and thats very threatening against most general teams, and if he builds tanky hes just not relevant because he doesn't bring peel.

so he wont ever be competitive, but he can cheese a bit easier now with barrels.

no he doesnt. if you place barrels properly, youre goinna rek multiple champions with 60% armor pen aoe parrley crits. no need to get too close for that.

you just have to be a sneaky basterd and put barrels down over walls in jungle fights and in bushes. then extend those with explosion chains.

new gangplank feels like the old gangplank with hell of a lot waveclear. and more to contribute in teamfights than hit and run with his q.

people said this about azir and lucian. boy oh boy how quickly the sheeps changed there minds when azir and lucian was played in a LCS.

pro tip: his barrels are devastating.

who cares about lcs? are you gonna go pro and play in the lcs? good luck with that.

if you learn to work with the barrels, hes gonna be pretty good in solo que though. you can pull off some pretty nice plays with them. the fact that you can use them as situational wards alone is pretty awesome, considering the range at which you can place them and the low cooldown on these things.

That's why you have to stage your barrels....you drop one next to or behind you and drop it down twice...buy your time...when it's right drop another barrel and chain explosion them.

Yes...Gangplank is pretty good atm. He has a pretty high skill cap atm because of what you have to do to use his barrels properly. He'll be a fairly strong solo queue top champ once people get him down.

the biggest issue is that GP barrels just become useless against ranged. They either need to be immune to ranged damage or need more HP against ranged shots.
