Is solo q really about improving or grinding?
What doesn't make sense to me is that I'm gold 2 yet I don't really feel like I actually earned it from carrying my games.
Let me explain why.
Of course there are some games where I do actually feel like I do have an impact on the game (snowballing/ending games in 15 mins). Of course there are some games where I do not actually feel like I have an impact on the game (unwinnable games/games that should of never been stalled out but their whole team has wave clear so) Of course there are some games that I just int my ass off and still win.
Riot supports this theory (40/40/20) where you win 40% of your games no matter what you do, you will lose 40% of your games no matter what you do and the remaining 20% comes down to you.
However recently in gold I've come to the realization that it feels more like a 50/50, either your TEAM stomps or your TEAM gets stomped. Theres no in between. I feel like solo q isn't actually about improving over countless hours of research and practise, its more about just playing the game and eventually you'll be pushed higher because the system says so. Of course you'll slowly improve over the course of it but it doesn't really feel like it was achieved through enhanching your skills, just sheer grinding. Like Runescape type grinding.
Whats crazy to me is, I see some players in this game who are Gold 3-1 that play better than Diamonds, yet some players in that tier play like they're Iron, and I'm not talking about having 1 bad game and thats it, no I literally mean they play like they're Iron.
I'm not saying I'm an amazing player that deserves a higher rank, I feel like I could get there sometime this or next year, but I defo feel like that me winning my games and climbing isnt me actually winning my games, its more about praying that my team is competent enough to not feed and end games when leads are given.
