Is solo q really about improving or grinding?

What doesn't make sense to me is that I'm gold 2 yet I don't really feel like I actually earned it from carrying my games.

Let me explain why.

Of course there are some games where I do actually feel like I do have an impact on the game (snowballing/ending games in 15 mins). Of course there are some games where I do not actually feel like I have an impact on the game (unwinnable games/games that should of never been stalled out but their whole team has wave clear so) Of course there are some games that I just int my ass off and still win.

Riot supports this theory (40/40/20) where you win 40% of your games no matter what you do, you will lose 40% of your games no matter what you do and the remaining 20% comes down to you.

However recently in gold I've come to the realization that it feels more like a 50/50, either your TEAM stomps or your TEAM gets stomped. Theres no in between. I feel like solo q isn't actually about improving over countless hours of research and practise, its more about just playing the game and eventually you'll be pushed higher because the system says so. Of course you'll slowly improve over the course of it but it doesn't really feel like it was achieved through enhanching your skills, just sheer grinding. Like Runescape type grinding.

Whats crazy to me is, I see some players in this game who are Gold 3-1 that play better than Diamonds, yet some players in that tier play like they're Iron, and I'm not talking about having 1 bad game and thats it, no I literally mean they play like they're Iron.

I'm not saying I'm an amazing player that deserves a higher rank, I feel like I could get there sometime this or next year, but I defo feel like that me winning my games and climbing isnt me actually winning my games, its more about praying that my team is competent enough to not feed and end games when leads are given.

games r coin flips once you hit the elo you are ment to be in.. for me all the way to plat 2ish i maintained a 55% wr with 400 games played.. now being plat 2ish for awhile it's dropped to 53% and my inpact on games feels much lower.

in my experience games are won in this elo in 8 minutes no joke ur team will be 5-0 or 0-5 with either team legit just opening mid. It tends to be due to someone's ego being to high thinking they are the d4 equivalent of faker and this 0-5 game is nothing more than a waste of time.... also aloooot of smurfs.

with that being said i think anyone can get to at least plat 4 with enough games played as they give you the free win in the series making it really easy to climb. However, in plat 4 you will see an extremely high skill gap of players some being their for mechanical play and 0 game sense, people who smash lane only to overextend in lane and wonder why their being camped.

what i think it takes to honestly make diamond and give you the best chances possible mind you im only plat2-1 range but play with atleast 2/3 d4 players per game is too.

A positive mindset- everyone goes over this but its so true! Tilt is very real and i didn't believe i ever tilt until i felt very low self-confidence in games after losing like 3 straight causing me to lose 7 straight when i should of stopped long ago!

Champion pool- do not think you are going to main every champ and get diamond not happening play 2-3 champs it will help

confidence- this kinda falls under tilt but i think it plays a huge role in leauge of legend's for example just because you are gold 2 does not mean you are any less than a p3 and should play no different due to it, time and time again you see people just concede lane due to playing to passive because they think the other player is better....

learning from mistakes/warding- throwing this 2 tg because they are rather short but buying pinks helps ur jungler so much and helps secure objectives with ease and force bad fights without vision people tend to not use them... also if you are noticing mistakes over and over like 2+ deaths from warding alone per game try sticking with teamates to ward ect.

i wish you the best of luck in the climb brother and i hope any of this helps you!

It's the same for the other nine players in the match, too. The thing that determines who wins more and who loses more is how often it actually is the person's fault rather than someone else's.

Because climbing is more than straight up 1v9 carrying your teams. You can also be great at enabling your teammates or backing up those who are actually carrying, being super easy to carry, or just never dying/losing lane.

Grinding. Rioter earlier this week said something about 40-40-20

The 40s you automatically win and lose. The20 you can decide.

If you win 55-60% of that 20%... that’s only like 51% winrate.

both i guess, i only win 15 lp a win and lose 20 a loss but my ranked w/r is pretty good so I am climbing but it's obviously a grind
