These Ahri changes do not help her become more mage-y.

Ok, so here are the changes:

Ahri Orb of Deception (Q) has a new effect: "Ahri gains movement speed while her orb travelling" [Note: At level 1 and rank 1 of Q, movement speed spikes from 330 (base) up to 545 then rapidly down to 410 until the orb returns.] Foxfire (W) damage increased to 50/80/110/140/170 from 40/65/90/115/140 Charm (E) AP ratio increased to .5 from .35 Charm (E) no longer amplifies damage, Charm (E) damage increased to 60/90/120/150/200 from 60/90/120/150/180

And this is the change to her damage: (Does not include amplify from DFG item.)

Numbers presented first are the PBE numbers. Numbers presented second are live Charm's amplified damage.

AT MAX LEVEL:

Orb of Deception (max damage) 280 (+ 70% AP) 336 (+ 84% AP)

Change: 56 (+ 14% AP) damage is lost.

Fox-Fire (max damage) 272 (+ 64% AP) 269 (+ 76.8% AP)

Change: Deal 3 damage more, but lose out on the added (+12.8 %) AP ratio.

Charm 200 (+ 50% AP) 180 (+ 35% AP)

Change: 20 (+15%) more damage.

Spirit Rush (max damage) 450 (+ 90% AP) 540 (+ 108% AP)

Change: 90 (+18% AP) damage lost.

Overall, 123 (+29.8% AP) damage is LOST. At 500 AP, that totals to 273 damage lost. Remember this doesn't include damage lost from DFG removal.

But, how does this nerf make her more magey? It makes her weaker, so it's harder to 100-0 somebody, which weakens her assassin aspect, but that does not help her become more magey.

Charm's base damage and AP ratio increase doesn't help much either, since Charm is the skill that gets 1 point early and maxed last. It also has the longest cooldown aside from her ult, meaning it gets used less. This damage increase should be in Orb of Deception.

Also, assassin Ahri needs less spell rotations to do her job, which means assassin Ahri doesn't need as much mana. A kite/mage Ahri will have to spam her skills to be effective, so I suggest lowering her mana costs and/or buffing her regen if they want to make her mage aspect stronger. MAYBE, lower cooldowns too.

I prefer mage Ahri to assassin Ahri. I don't like when a champ is so reliant on one skill. This also gives her more build paths. I support transitioning Ahri into more of a mage role, but these current changes do not succeed at that.

more magey ahri ?

fox fire fires at 3 separate champs

ult fires at 3 separate champs and has lower recast block so she can chain dashes better also some tweaks to make her able to not lose shots when she jumps away (perhaps it would be nice if shee would fire one bolt at the start, one mid dash, one at the end)

ult, e and w get lower cd

dmg beetwen q and w gets more normalized (less dmg loaded in q more in w)

oh and reduced mana costs

this way ahri becomes an aoe mage who aids her team with single target cc setting up targets

thats more mage like ahri what riot did was leaving her scaterred kit (q and e are of assasins while ult and w are of aoe mage, they mixed them so equaly that she isnt either to the fullest) and adding some random crap

I love the changes, they emphasize her mobility and "outplay" theme. The damage amp on her charm was silly because in many cases it wasn't best to lead that with it. Often you want to dash in or around your enemy once or twice, putting them into a position where they can't dodge the charm. Now that playstyle (which is so quintessentially Ahri) isn't deemphasized. Also, the movement speed buff on her Q helps her get into this playstyle from get the go, instead of waiting until 6. Great changes!

The essential things that support her kite mage pattern are already here (the Q MS buff, Charm, Ulti and Foxfire slow if you have Rylai's).

If her damage after all theses changes is low, don't worry they will probably tweak them :)

I don't understand why people think she ever wasn't or will not be an assassin.

Assassin - High mobility makes them hard to attack as they jump in and out of battle.

Ahri - Still has her R AND now she has a powerful speed boost on her Q to help her reposition.

If anything this change makes her MORE of an assassin.

The only thing people are upset about is not being able to explode others with E -> DFG. Which was never the point of her AoE and mobility focused kit. Go play LB if you want mobile burst.

Want to make her more magey? Try this buff.

(putting the charm back in her charm)

charm duration increased by .5 seconds at all levels.

** Single Target QWER damage.**

3.12 Full Combo: 1235 (+2.85) QWE: 740 (+1.8) QW: 560 (+1.425)

4.21 Full Combo: 1134 (+2.59); Charmed: 1325 (+3.04) QWE: 684 (+1.69); Charmed: 785 (+1.95) QW: 504 (+1.34)

5.2 Full Combo: 1202 (+2.74) QWE: 752 (+1.84) QW: 552 (+1.34)

  • Orb of Deception is already extremely high budget, if you have a hard time understanding the impact of true damage, run a spreadsheet against 50+MR targets.
  • Ahri's mana costs were lowered a few patches ago. Morellonomicon is a strong first buy right now.
  • DFG's active is overrated. It's a great pile of stats with a strong active, but the CD increase made it a lot less effective.
