The community and Aatrox (repost because APPARENTLY it was in the wrong place)

WARNING THIS POST IS PETTY AF As someone who's played Aatrox a good bit, I'm somewhat disappointed with the Aatrox scenario we have in front of us. Not with his new kit, not with his voice acting, not even with his lack of wings. I'm disappointed with the community's extreme reaction to it. Why? Well Imma tell ya' Currently, Aatrox is has a 1.28% play rate, but suddenly everyone on the boards is an Aatrox main who's been playing him since release. Now I will admit there are some reasonable things to be mad about:

  1. New ult seems a little lackluster
  2. Some people (including a certain, very popular boarder who is both malicious and metallic) don't like his voice lines and actor
  3. Some say he's just a Riven rework disguised as an Aatrox one.

But; Before you start hating on Aatrox, or the developlment team, or his voice actor, ask yourself this. Did you ever give a rat's ass about Aatrox, before they announced the rework? Did you ever give a rat's ass about Aatrox, after they announced the rework? Did you ever give a rat's ass about Aatrox, before the teaser came out? Did you ever give a rat's ass about Aatrox, after yeah yeah you get the point.

Before you flame me, I think that criticism is good, for any champion or champion designer, keeping that in mind I find it somewhat suspect, that after acting like he doesn't exist for years now, suddenly everyone is an Aatrox expert who deserved to have a hand in his rework. That's like being a dick to the local homeless guy, but then after he wins the lottery and buys a car you get mad at him because the horn doesn't honk the way you like.

The people who actually care about him have a reason to post about it now.

Some players who complain about the removal of Aatrox being auto attack biased have bitched about how Auto attacks are BS, no skill, and braindead.

I picked him up a little over a month ago. Right after he was on free rotation. His live is fun. But I do see his problems. If you farm well you get way strong. If you don't you fall hard. He seems very feast or famine.

Just on game play I've seen, he is very different. Probably easier to balance too. I like it for the most part. He heals still, but no longer mainly from autos. He still revives, ult is still a fighting steroid.

My biggest/only complaint is that his voice lane makes me cringe. I actually like some of the jokes and taunts, but it's all delivered by a Russian personification of "COME AT ME bro!"

I mained him since release, stopped playing him when the rework was announced out of pure unfiltered salt.

You know, I never posted about Aatrox because I was happy with how he was. I had no reason to speak about him when everytime I locked him in one of my games I would have a blast. It was awesome to win free lanes that I sould have lost because nobody knoew what the champion did. I got to mastery 5 of him very fast once the mastery system was implemented, and when it was increased to 7 it took me very few games, he was the second champ I got to that point (after Shyvana). Why would I need to poast about him?

To answer your questions. Yes, I did give a rat's ass about Aatrox before they announced the rework. Yes, I did give a rat's ass about Aatrox after they announced the rework. I stopped giving a rat's ass about him when the teaser came out out of spite, I did not expect his persona to change so drastically. And now I give a huge rat's ass about him because it is the last chance I have to do so before the champion that had become one of my two favorite champions disappears into oblivion.

Your post is simply infuriating, because there are very few of us Aatrox players that have sticked with the champion through the tough times and better times that he has had. And for such a small playerbase, the champion is very endearing to us. Lets be honest, to become an Aatrox main one must have really enjoyed the champion to put up with all that "worst champion in the game LOLOLO pick something else" bull****. So once the guy that we went through so much for gets changed completely in a way that is not recognizable not nly gameplay wise but also lore and identity wise, it is understandable that we come here to express our dissatisfaction. What is more, the majority of people supporting the Aatrox rework are the ones who are not Aatrox mains. And here you come to tell us that we are overreacting to losing probably our favorite champion.

We will end up dealing with it, of course we will. We have no other choice. But the game will not be the same.
