Anyone else interested in the idea of a Champ Select Veto Button?
I'll basically copy paste what I wrote to Riot about this idea, see what you guys think
Ok, before I begin, please note this is a long, drawn out rant, more so than anything else. However, within this rant, I will make a few valid concerns, so please bear with me. I was trying, and succeeding somewhat, in attempting to go from silver to gold ranking. I ended up from silver 4 to silver 2 within a day. However, it was abundantly clear that upon reaching the level, there were too many people who didn't care, and trolled, were toxic, or anything and everything in not letting you succeed. And while it can be argued that we, as a community, have the power to remove such people via tribunal, that's not quite true. A majority of trolls tend to be repeats, a recent one where a pair of players duo queue'd and instalocked in. One argues that, "well, you report them after." I would like to point out that MOST PEOPLE DON'T ACTUALLY SUBMIT REPORTS. Whether because they derive some sort of twisted pleasure in having others fail or they don't care is irrelevant to the fact most players don't actually report things. In fact, in said game, I politely asked the enemy team to report, and was met with "Shut the F*** up you faggot" As you can see, not very reassuring.
Currently? As I write this, I am VERY upset, mainly because I cannot obtain gold due to a number of circumstances, and to be fair, it may very well be I'm not good enough. But I can't find out if there isn't an opportunity to try.
This is not, by ANY MEANS, a plea to give me gold. I would love nothing more, but that's not the point. The point is that Riot actually has to step into the community and immerse itself better, so it can better help regulate and control things. This community is incapable of self governing on many levels.
Things I would personally like? A veto button. One of the main issues is, the game I mentioned with the instalockers? They wasted half an hour, time I could have used to try again for gold. Except, it's clear you don't approve of dodging a queue. Yet, how do you expect people to enjoy a game when they enter it, KNOWING that they're essentially FUBAR? It's especially evident in ranked, when people troll to ruin other people's games. A veto button, essentially, would be offered if an entire team (or, in the case of a duo troll group, three of the five) agrees that there is a problem maker, and they wish to be returned to their lobbies. I can see the ramifications of such, all things considered, but say perhaps maybe one or two per day? At least giving people the option to not ruin their game, waste their time, and piss them off, as I currently am.
Please understand, I do recognize that your company works hard and tries it's best to help the community, and under no circumstance do I wish to sound ungrateful for all the things you have done for us. But it's no less frustrating having issues with players and the community. I hope, and pray, that eventually issues like this would be resolved, but most error spawns from human desires to be cruel.
As I said, I would love nothing more than for Riot to simply gift me that Morgana skin, but it is something I would have to earn, not be given (although to be fair, I wouldn't turn it down). But how can one try to earn it when the opportunity is not present? One could argue that these types of people are part of the trails, but that's not really true. It's more so an external experience that hampers the overall enjoy-ability of games.
I know my suggestion may not be ideal, as I am not part of technical design nor coding, so I couldn't do that even if I wanted to, but as a player who is feeling extremely frustrated in his inability to overcome the issues of trolls, feeders, and those who generally make life a living hell, I beesech you to at least consider looking into other ways of dealing with said people.
(This was not included in the message) Now, something else I would like to suggest, though this one will for certain be met with extreme player opposition, is punishments for players who do NOT report players who get tribunal bans. Maybe not full on bans, but warnings, etc, etc, I don't know, punishments like this would be difficult to do.
Now this one, I admit, is much more difficult, but I feel that a major issue spawns from people NOT reporting others for being toxic. Now I can see an argument being made for it being unfair, but If you do nothing to stop trolls and feeders, you are essentially as bad as they are.
TL;DR: I'm wondering how others would feel about a button that calls a vote during champion select which, if passed, would return all players to their respective lobbies. Some argue, that's unfair to other teams, but it's unfair to one team to go into a game, KNOWING there's a troll. Additionally, I would say that said button should have: Recognition of duo queues, thus duo queues can't beat the system, as well as it having the veto button being called on pointing out the troll. Thus, say you Veto a player, but no one else does, nothing happens to that player. But say that a lot of people veto out of games with said player, it can be grounds for a tribunal investigation or something along those lines. It doesn't solve those who troll once the game has started, but that is why we do have after game reporting. It just makes people who want to ruin someone's game ahead of time a lot harder. Additionally, consider handing out punishments to those who do nothing against trolls and feeders, as they are par tof the problem.
