Do you have to play an ADC for bot lane?

Can't you play mages with a support? Or a bruiser? Like for instance;

Annie Brand Kled Braum Heimerdinger Zyra Nasus Trundle Orianna Poppy Tryndamere Sejuani Taliyah Sona Renekton Lulu Veigar Blitzcrank Xerath Velkoz Yorick Anivia

etc. I feel like some of em will be pretty good combos in the bot lane.

well its mostly just early game cheese seeing how an adc is always a good option for late game

you're totally right.

you do need a strong seiger, for late game, but there are several of those which are non-adc.

I did a Darius/Nami botlane and we wrecked face. Nami lands her knock up = free grab for Darius = Free kills

idk why an idea is being downvoted

You can play whatever you want in whatever position you want so long as you are trying to win.

However, the most optimized route is to have a marksman in the bot lane because ADCs scale with items, not levels so splitting the exp isn't that bad for them vs most mid/top laners that want to have levels over items.

The Meta is only this way because ADCs are the best at killing towers/dragons/baron, which is the priority in the game. You don't have to follow the meta though. Now, the meta is that way because the pro players determined that this is the most optimized set up. So, by not following it, you may be putting your team at a disadvantage, so keep that in mind.
