I'm so tired of the "it's normals/aram" excuse
Intentional feeding and flaming should not be happening. It's not cool. If you seriously think it's ok to be toxic in normals or ARAM then you are part of the problem.

''I'm just having a bad game, whatever its just a norm''
'' [Insert baby rage tilt here] ''
Big difference between that and what you are calling out.

It's the implied apathetic attitude that is the problem. Anyone saying this is an asshat because he/she obviously does not care about the other people he/she is playing with. Not everyone thinks like they do and for them to say this is selfish.
There are two kinds of players, one who says "it's only normals" and one who plays the game the way RIOT intended the game be played, which is together as a team. I will side with those playing the game the way it was intended 100%.
It's because it's only normals, you do not having anything to lose unlike ranked, where you lose LP
I'm not saying intentional feeders, or flamers are okay, they definitely aren't and god i hate them
But there's a line between intentional feeders and people having a bad game, a strict line And if someone get's mad at a person for having a bad game and they respond with "it's only a normal" i think it's a completely viable response

You lose your time because an asshat wants to waste it. I am guessing you are a young person that has no sense of time. When you grow up and understand that the saying, "Time is Money" is true, maybe then you will have the clue you need about real life.
Before you show your young age more and ask me why I use my time to play a game, I will respond now with who the hell are you to tell me what to do with my time.
Having a bad game is an excuse used way too much. Saying I had a bad game is ok because you are taking the blame and I am fine with that. Following it up with, "it's only normals" tells me you are POS that just wasted my time with your apathy. There is a difference.
You're playing a video game.
Saying you are old enough to appreciate time is hilarious. Get off your soap box.

Another ignorant apathetic sheep who thinks they have a say in what I do with my time.
then you have no excuse to bitch and moan about others spennding their time having bad games. dont act so selfish and egocentric that only you and your experience matters
But... but he does. You don't have to listen to them, but anyone who wants to can tell you how to spend your time.
You've been wasting your time replying to these comments to argue against a viewpoint that isn't even there, so I think he has correctly judged that you are terrible at spending your time wisely.

Lol, ok. Opinions are like...
I will continue to call people out who are disrespectful to me in the same manner. In game or out of game. It's sad there are so many people who have been raised the way you are in regards to respecting other people. No wonder the world is the way it is today.
Dude, you have no room to talk about respecting other people. Your first comment that was downvoted into oblivion is full of condescension and assumptions that the person you disagree with is a little kid.
I'd rather be disrespectful than completely oblivious to what's actually happening around me.
Though I suppose it's hard to see with your head shoved so far up your own ass...

Lol, downvotes. Social media is exactly your problem. My first comment was in response to the OP's post. You don't like my opinion so you try and justify being disrespectful towards other players who play the game the way it was intended to be by RIOT. Nothing more and nothing less. If you don't like my opinion then say so. That is your right, but don't try to justify yours because all you are doing is showing exactly what people think you are. Also, L2literate and maybe you won't miss things and comment on things that you don't understand.
I said your first comment that was downvoted into oblivion, not your first comment.
"L2literate" buddy
Maybe you won't miss things that would be inconvenient for your side of the argument.

Here is a link for you. There is no argument, You are a disrespectful player to me who chooses to ruin other people games with your apathetic attitude and inability to play well with others. I am sorry you are you.
I don't normally report people in the Boards but you are literally cancer to this community.
time is an imaginary construction of the shared perspective of the human condition that is measured against the rotation of our planet in relation to the sun.
in other words, time is imaginary.
I don't know why this got downvoted.

A lot of the issue i run into with this is that "having a bad game" often quickly turns into "i'm going to be an asshole". usually in the form of dying once or twice due to poor positioning/no wards/ etc..... then player either gives up and just dies to stupid shit over and over, OR they try to "make up for it" and end up dying another half dozen times. You then end up in a game that "ended" around the 15 min mark, but is still on going at the 30-40 min mark. Team wont surrender, one or more player is trying to 1v5 and enemy team wants to clear everything before finally putting the final nail in the coffin.
Sure you don't loss LP, but many people would rather loose 20 LP and have a game end at 20-25 mins due to someone having a bad game; then spend 50 mins dicking around because your team wont surrender and your opponents wont end (but if you quit YOU get reported, don't get the IP for the match, and end up with a time penalty)
You stretch having a bad game (poor positioning, dying, poor warding) to being an asshole and giving up? I mean maybe I'm being obtuse here, but this doesn't seem totally right...
Son, if I'm playing a norm when I reach home from a long ass day at work, trust me I won't be giving 2 shits about having a bad game, I'm just trying to unwind. Not everybody is a fucking tryhard, go play ranked games if you want to baby rage of a defeat in ARAM. ffs man... ARAM. I mean cmon, I could lose 20 ARAM games without an ounce of tilt in my blood. grow the fuck up.
Some of us actually like playing ARAM seriously, but that's besides the point. There's a difference between "having a bad game" and "actively screwing around." Everyone has bad games from time to time. The problem comes when people are either clearly trolling (e.g. AP Vayne) or just grasping at excuses for their own poor play.
I'm not saying it's ever appropriate to flame someone, but hypothetically,
Alice: Bob, why do you have a lichbane on Draven? Bob: lol its just normals/ARAM/whatever
I'm pretty sure Bob's the one at fault there.
Hey if they don't want us building AP on
then they would remove the option. Kidding............ Kinda.
Wait, wtf is the problem of playing full AP Vayne?
People dont need to follow the meta, they build what they want on the champion they're playing the main concern is if they are feeding intentionally or just flaming, but as long as it works for him and he likes playing full ap vaye thats not trolling
There are people that dont want to be meta slaves so they just build what they have fun with and usually they dont troll
I completely agree, but it's also fair to point out that Vayne has 0 ap scalings and would literally be doing nothing.
that juicy ludens proc on condemn and those empowered lich bane procs on tumbles kreygasm
I don't know about you but I play arams every time I want a game with less seriousness in it. I feel free to build what i want without people discriminating against it. Sure you have players who are serious about aram but i imagine they're in a higher mmr queue than people like me.
It's the implied apathetic attitude that is the problem. Anyone saying this is an asshat because he/she obviously does not care about the other people he/she is playing with. Not everyone thinks like they do and for them to say this is selfish.

Not really. I play norms with the attitude that "it's only norms". Then I 100% don't rage. I have fun. I go in norms to try to get an S on a new champ for the chest. I encourage team mates to make good build and objective choices. Still.. IF I end up feeding, I'll say "sorry, not having a great game." and if people rage I'll say "It's norms man chill out. Doesn't even matter" because the fact is.. it doesn't.

I have never understood the "it's just normals" thought process. Sure some people take things to seriously, but often it's not a question of "why didn't you plan around a series of pro level plays causing your death" and more a question of "
why the hell do you keep chasing the
with
and
from your outer turrent to his base one? He's killed you 6 times with that in the past 10 mins"
That aside, i tend to view it more as a question of "why should 4-9 other people have to spend 30+ mins of their time attempting to play a game, while 1 player is dicks around / "has a bad game" "
Normal games should be fun. But people rarely have fun when the choice quickly becomes suffer through a 40-50 min game that was lost by the 15 min mark, or get a 20 min time penalty for leaving the game because 20-40% of your team refuses to even remotely try to work together.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. I have never seen someone go "why do you care if im flaming you in normals?"
I really expected this to go the way of poor play, but thats exactly what normals are for. Learning new champs/not wanting to play as seriously as you would in ranked. Thats the the whole point it exists, they would call it casual mode if casuals wouldnt get offended.
And Aram...not even gonna touch that one, if you get mad in aram, you seriously need to reevaluate some shit.
Shouldn't ARAM be more serious than normals though? SR has ranked for serious play, leaving normals for more casual play. ARAM doesn't have that separation, so both serious and casual players are in the same queue.
The "serious" players in ARAM must have gotten lost looking for Twisted Treeline. So much of ARAM is at the mercy of the RNG that anyone who says they're a serious ARAM player doesn't know the meaning of one of those words.
The actual breakdown of ARAM is the casuals and the people who don't understand the purpose of the gamemode.
I like to win in ARAM. The RNG (for champions) is fun. :)
agreed, that's the only reason I play ARAM, for the RNG XD
I like the instant teamfighting also. Laning gets boring in Summoner's Rift.
I have never seen "it's just a normal" used to excuse RAGE. No, "it's just a normal" is almost always in response to some kid raging like his dog just died because somebody isn't going full tryhard in a normal. Hell, I would say >50% of the time I see it, it's not even because of a bad game, it's because some meta whore is throwing a hissy fit because somebody is playing something he doesn't think is viable.
What's funny is I use "it's just a normal" in ranked whenever I get people whining about my champion pick before minions have even spawned. Then I just sit back and watch them flip out.
As a counterexample, most of the time I see "its just <X>," it's in response to a fairly reasonable question. If anything, the guy using that excuse is typically the one who rages and starts bringing up ranking or 1v1 or whatnot.
but i still hate people and premades tryharding at normals when i just wanted to try off-meta builds and champs
Tryharding is fine if they're not raging and respecting you too.
Why shouldn't I try hard to win though? I hate ranked because since it matters more, everybody is that much more toxic and everything is stressful. I play normals to have fun, but winning is fun for me.
I don't care about off meta. I just did a game with Ziggs support and we stomped really hard. But if you do Soraka jungle and say "It's just normals bro stop being a tryhard" I'm going to be understandably upset. If you build AP on an AD champion I'm going to report you when you feed for ruining my game and holding me hostage for at least 20 minutes. I think that's the point of the thread here. Most people don't care what you do in normals as long as it's viable and you try to win.
"I don't care about off meta, but if you take soraka jungle, then I care"
.....Makes sense...
You do know what meta is, right? Most Effective Tactic Available. Off meta simply means using something less effective such as Ziggs support. It has CC and poke and map pressure with his ult. It's not the most effective, as something such as Janna or Lux would be better. But it is effective.
Now, is Soraka jungle effective? No? Then that isn't meta or off meta. That's just a waste of my time.
Also, in most people's minds, playing an off meta pick, is playing something you don't see. Example, Jungle Bard, or AP Kha'zix mid, both of which I have made videos about. Those aren't viable picks and you will hardly ever see them. But they can work.
Viable literally means "capable of working successfully." If they aren't viable they can't work. I can see something like jungle Bard maybe working, I'd try it in a bot game first. You have constant chime access and neat ganks with your E so maybe that could be off meta. Dunno. Definitely better than Veigar jungle.
See the difference here? One could be off meta, one doesn't exist.
The thing is, it does exist, someone's played it. Also, it's literally a mode where it doesn't matter. You don't lose anything other than your time, which you lose regardless. If you find that you're wasting your time because someone in normals wants to try something different to have some fun, then go play ranked, or don't play league.

I don't feel this always holds fair. Say your team comp is pretty good "standard" top, mid, jungle, and adc.... then the last player decides that to have "fun" they are going to play Garen as the support against another "standard" team comp (but this one doesn't have someone trying something insane like Garen support). Assuming you missed your chance to dodge the queue (which you get punished for even though another player was being stupid) you are now held hostage in a game for at least 20 mins, where you are likely going to lose because someone decided their "fun" was more important then 4-9 other players time.
You can take the same basic idea for people who decide to try out brand new champions as well. Say i've never played
, i don't know here ranges or the proper timing for her abilities, i probably shouldn't take her into a game and force other people to spend time trying to cover for the fact that i can't play the champion to even a 10% of it's full power.
Okay, on the last LB statement, you'll never learn a champ then because so much of it comes from playing against live people and not just the 10 bots in an AI match.
For me, I never feel hostage when I'm playing this game, because I'm playing a game in which it is intended to have fun. I've never played Jayce before, but I played him for the first time in ranked last night (against an illaoi, thank you team for the carry) because I've been wanting to play him and it was fun as hell playing him. You're playing a game that has no rules. The only rule really is to have fun that's not at the expense of others. Playing soraka jungle is not harming your fellow players as it is their own personal decision to feel like their time is wasted. The game doesn't tell you what champs can be played where, if it did, balance wouldn't be an issue, but the game doesnt. You're free to play soraka for the first time and take her jungle, you're free to then be reported by other people because you "trolled" however, Riot won't do anything because it's not a set rule that they can't take soraka jungle.
Shit, I've played against an ADC soraka and got my ass handed to me.

As for the LB statement i could not disagree with you more. Sure you won't master a champion playing against bots, but you sure as hell will get a better understanding of their basic game play. 15-30 mins to just get a good understanding of your ranges, how your rotation works, and your personal optimal rotation, is not much to ask before you jump into a game with other players.
Good for you in not feeling annoyed when another player makes a game near impossible to win. However most people tend to be displeased when a player leaves/ disconnects 5 mins into a match and never returns. Like wise many people are displeased when one player decides that their sense of fun is worth more then the rest of the people they are playing with.
I'm going to use Soraka as the example here. Let's say I play 100 games with a Jungle Soraka, each game with a different player using her. in 85 of those games Soraka is unable to jungle well. She's either super slow or just plain unable to kill the jungle monsters without being babysat by teammates. Out of the 15 that do manage to clear the jungle, 5 of them are unable to to provide any pressure or secure any kills in lanes and are never close enough to heal their allies in a close duel. 3 of the Soraka's can't provide pressure/ secure kills but are very good at managing to keep their allies alive. 7 of the Soraka's are played well enough to clear jungle, and provide the level of assistants needed to really help in lanes. Now lets say that all those games averaged out to 30 mins each. I have committed 50 hours to playing the game, of which 90% i have had less to no fun because one player decided that their sense of fun (to play a character not designed for the role) was more important then the rest of the team's time and sense of fun. due to this ratio i'm most likely going to dodge a game where someone decides to play Soraka as a jungle. I get a time penalty, thus putting off my ability to have fun playing the game, and they get to re-queue and probably cause even more players down the line to dodge and put off their chance at a fun game.
The saying "it's only normals/ARAM" rarely seems to be someone over reacting to a small mistake, instead it usually seems to come across as "my choice to do something i know probably wouldn't work / would end horribly, is more important then you and/or everyone else playing"
Pretty much what this whole argument comes down to is, People want to unwind in normals and troll. And they can that is their prerogative, however, some people want to go tryhard like yourself and win in norms no matter what. And that isn't the best way to look at it because if people aren't having fun or can't' make light of the game what is the point of playing it no matter what anyone says, There isn't a right or wrong answer to your question. But I feel like your being a nazi about the whole thing. If people can't first-time champs in normals then they will not improve with the champs literally every pro player says that. Just play games even if you lose just play games and you will get better. Stop caring so much and thinking that your time is more valuable than others fun the only way this can be fixed or "Answered Correctly" is if you stop trying so hard in normals and enjoy the troll picks occasionally. Now god knows that a troll pick every game can tilt anyone but you don't get troll picks nearly as much. Although I have sided with troll picks the people that run down mid aren't cool and the flamers are even less cool but the people that say "chill dude it's only norms" are not flaming nearly as much as the try hards 100%.

Support garen can work pretty well as a cheese pick. It's obviously not top tier but I would say it's within my top 10 choices for support as an off-meta support picker.

any character can in theory work in any role. But some character are going to have a much much harder time working in a role, since they were not developed for it and often don't bring much to the table to function in that role.
Meta is also kind of weird since everyone definition is a little different. perhaps in your case off meta support has a wide range of people, but it could also end up being 15 characters out of the whole roster.... in which case top 10 isn't saying much.
