Overloaded items are whats really the problem

Nowadays items have like 4-5 stats and effects that it gives you. item's like item 3153 item 3504 item 3147 item 3285 item 3100 item 3142 item 3124 item 3078 are important items that champions build because of how many stats and effects they give. This is where the real power creep is coming from and the reason why champions snowball so hard when they get ahead in gold. Back then you would have to build 2-3 different items for the effects that you get from these items. Which is ridiculous.

If you want to see build diversity to where people have to actually make a choice in their build then take away effects from these items and put them onto something else.

I mean, some of those are certainly overloaded. I think you missed item 3812 though.

Personally though, I think the problem is that when the runes/masteries changed to what we have now, Riot just added more damage across the board. Items, base damage on abilities, the Runes hit harder.

Electrocute is basically Thuderlord's Decree on steroids. New Conqueror is Fervor of Battle AND Warlord's Bloodlust but with true damage. Phase Rush is a batter Stormraider's Surge. Aery is basically Deathfire Touch except stronger early game. Even Aftershock deals damage, and it should be a rune that is purely defensive.

says "nowadays" mentions items that have been around since forever... you do know that item 3153 item 3078 item 3100 item 3142 have been around since forever right? with pretty much the same effects they have currently? hell in item 3142 case it also used to give AS. Also item 3285 and item 3504 have been around for long enough that "nowadays" doesn't suit them at all.
