Why is it okay for matchmaking to give me team mates who can't carry their own weight??
LIke, not a single person on my team with a positive kda and several who go 20+ deaths. I'm all for a challenge but that is just plain impossible.

Sometimes you get matched with players that aren't doing so hot. Law of randomization guarantees this. Play consistently well then over the course of your games, you will rank up.
Works well on the paper. Doesn't in real life.
There are 10000000 "Bronze to Gold" videos out there.
It works in practice.
If you consistently play on a Silver/Gold/Plat/Diamond/Master level then you will rank up as such.
Yes, there are.
They are made by bored Plats and Diamonds who severely outclass their opponents.
Yeah, so if you play as well as a Plat or Diamond player then you will rank up to Plat/Diamond.
If you play as well as a Gold player you will rank up to Gold.
If you play as well as a Silver player you will rank up to Silver
Nobody instantly becomes a Plat or Diamond.
If you already reached Plat winning in Bronze or Silver is nothing.
Now, if you were to show me a video how a, say, 3-seasons-in-a-row-10-games-a-day Bronze player one day decided to apply all those magical remedies to ranking up and went Diamond within the next week, I'd believe you.
But that never happened.
Of course no one instantly becomes Plat or Diamond.
They play well enough and learn enough about the game to make it to Silver.
From there they play well enough and learn enough about the game to make it to Gold.
They play, they learn, and they rank up with those lessons.
If you play, then you will be placed in rank exactly where your skill puts you. If you improve or think you were placed improperly then by just playing ranked you will naturally move up.

Just as the other guy, you believe climbing ELO is a simple math problem, which is not true. To be placed at a rank "exactly" at your skill level, you'd need to have thousands of games of experience to minimize impact of other variables.
Which amount at 9 in every 5v5 match.
And even after those thousands of games it's perfectly possible to not rank up even if you are individually better than your rank.
Because math.
you'd need to have thousands of games of experience to minimize impact of other variables.
You have the math to back that up?
I don't think it's a simple math problem. I believe that the system accurately represents how skilled people are at the game. If you want to say "if you want to be placed at your skill level you need X games to minimize random factors" then feel free to show the evidence.
Because noone plays consistently well unless their MMR is wrong.
Because there are 9 other variables changing every game.
The thing about variables is that they don't frequently stack all one way or another. Edge cases where half work in your favor and half work against you are the most common. If you played well in 100% of your games, edge cases would lean in your favor and you would rise rather quickly. Problem is that everyone has bad games.
Another problem is that a lot of people are in denial that they have bad games. If someone else has a bad game, they're bad players that are holding you back, but if you have a bad game, it's your teammate's fault. Such an attitude makes being hardstuck at an ELO a really awful experience because you're ignoring the fact that you can improve and putting 100% of the blame on an aspect of the game you can't control. Thus, needless frustration.
We are in a meta where 1 bad player is "worth" more than than 1 good player.
Even if odds stack even, they don't. Even in both teams each have one player "who has a bad game", they don't always lane against each other, they don't always lane against players who'd get an even matchup, they don't have the same impact.
Talking about statistics and deluding yourself that matches are simple math problems is fundamentally silly.
Funny enough you say that
Edge cases where half work in your favor and half work against you are the most common.
Which:
winning is for asians
in the west as long as you don't say naughty words riot doesn't care
That's when you play Trundle and just split push up their assholes.
And this is why I hate playing ranked queues, in any game.
This is why i literally uninstalled yesterday,
Sick and tired of being queued against players who are actually trying - meanwhile I get people on my team either clowning around or just so woefully out of their depth for the matchup.
Homie, that's just team games. Go play a Fighting game or something that relies less on teamwork.

lol downvote me more kids
The Elo system is very ineffective and by creating this meta tank the game is more reliant on team work. As a pro said this is good for competitions not for solo q.
In order to climb in some moments u must be the one to make a difference in ur game but is quite a paradox cause you depend much more on your team than before. So even if you get a decent feed let s say u re adc but if other lanes are a disaster those tanks will wreck you hard. So yeah u win ur lane but unfortunately you lose the game. RIP LOL in 2k117
this is why you play adc
I disagree. Playing adc feels even worse when your teammates perform so terrible that your game ended at 20 mins without you having a say in it. You can be 5/0 as an adc but that 3/0 irelia is still gonna roll over you. Add a weak frontline and a midlane with no damage and you have the perfect recipe to get fed and still be unable to carry the game.
Because unless your MMR is wrong, you're contributing to your losses on whole just as much as your teammates are. If you were any better than them, you would tip the edge cases in your favor and rise to a new MMR where you would once again be just as much of a liability to your teammates as they are to you. It's how matchmaking works.

Right, wasn't it figured out that if you misplay your placements it takes 100-400+ games to get back to your 'skill level' ? or was that a lie too
Fuckin' ranked ELO and ranked placements are a whole different ball game. ELO is there to stroke people's ego when they play well and climb in ranked but turn around and kick people in the balls when they're on a hard loss streak or fail placements. MMR is just there to make sure everyone has a 50% win rate unless they're in Bronze V or Challenger, regardless of whether they play ranked or normal.
That's funny, maybe your teammates feel the same way about you? But seriously, the matchmaking system can't be magically upgraded to not give you trolls, or give you only good teammates. It will never happen.
Why is it OK for you to go 0/5/0, 0/7/2, 1/9/2, 2/10/7 and then proceed to whine about your teammate's scores?
This is what happens when you have autofill in high elo and for some reason people who never play jungle keep getting it...
